Today we’d like to introduce you to Aamani Watson.
Aamani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins during one of the most uncertain times in recent history, starting college during the COVID-19 pandemic. I entered with one huge goal; to become a surgeon. Academics were everything to me. I was a biochemistry major with a Spanish minor, focused and determined.
But when the world came to a halt, so did the structure I had relied on. Life suddenly felt out of control, and I experienced what felt like a complete nervous system reboot. That pause gave me space to question the path I was on.
During that first year, I began to feel disconnected from the future I thought I wanted. I changed my major three times and finally landed in Sociology—a decision that changed everything. For the first time, I felt like I was choosing my future, not following someone else’s expectations.
I realized I wasn’t meant to live in a world of black-and-white answers. I’m someone who thrives in the grey area—where curiosity, risk, and human connection live. I crave the depth of culture, the richness of different lifestyles, and the boldness of following joy. Leaving pre-med was hard, but necessary. I needed to follow a path that felt expansive.
That leap led me to real estate—a space that allowed me to fully explore different parts of who I am. Becoming a realtor opened the door to my creativity, my entrepreneurial spirit, and my passion for people. It wasn’t just about homes—it was about stories, about community, about learning how people live, love, and dream. I saw how culture, lifestyle, and environment shape everything. I got to be a part of that. And with every client, every experience, I became more of myself.
Every lesson along my journey—every change, challenge, and risk—became a vital part of my growth. I learned to trust my intuition, to value freedom, and to take up space outside the box I had once lived in.
But my journey didn’t stop there.
I took another leap and moved to the West Coast—to Los Angeles—to expand my business and further align with the life I’m creating. Since being in LA, I’ve immersed myself in its culture, its history, and its endless creativity. I’m learning how to make a difference in a city that thrives on vision and innovation.
Now, I live a life driven by purpose, connection, and joy. I’m building something of my own—something meaningful, bold, and real. And I know this is just the beginning.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing worth having comes easy. I think of my journey like a lotus flower—growing out of the mud, from the harshest, most unlikely conditions, yet blooming into something beautiful.
Coming from an immigrant family, there was one clear dream when they left Jamaica: go to school, get a degree, and build a better life in America. That dream was rooted in love and survival, and it became the only plan that existed for me. But as I grew older and more in tune with who I truly am, I realized that dream wasn’t mine. It was outdated for the person I was becoming.
Choosing to step away from that path was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, not just for me, but for my family. It felt like I was going against everything they had worked for. But deep down, I knew I had to follow a path that aligned with my soul. I chose to write my own story.
That decision required me to become fiercely independent. I worked countless hours, took on odd-end jobs, and sustained my life on my own. All to create a version of success that felt real to me. There were moments of doubt, fear, and loneliness, but I never let go of my vision.
Today, I’m incredibly grateful that my family has taken the time to understand who I am. They’ve come to see why I made the choices I did—and now, they support me fully. That means everything.
Like the lotus, I’ve learned that beauty and strength are often born from struggle. And I wouldn’t trade that part of my story for anything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a realtor who helps clients buy, sell, and invest—not just in properties, but in their futures. A home is more than four walls—it’s a sanctuary, a reflection of who you are. My role is to carry the stress so my clients can focus on the memories they’ll create.
What sets me apart is my ability to deeply understand people. Real estate is emotional—I’m not just a realtor, I’m a guide, a problem solver, and a trusted friend. I build meaningful relationships that last well beyond the closing table and connect people in ways that go far beyond real estate.
I’m a person first, and I treat everyone the same way—with care, honesty, and respect.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The journey isn’t about being perfect you will make mistakes, and that’s okay. Embrace them, learn from them. Don’t live in fear, because fear leads to procrastinating your dreams. Go after what you want with everything you have and don’t give up.
