Life & Work with Sintoria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sintoria.

Sintoria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started making beats in my bedroom at 18. I was a beginner on Logic Pro X, and I learned most things through trial and error. My dad bought me my first mic and from the moment on, I was off to the races. I never knew there weren’t a lot of artists who produced their own music until I came into the music scene. It seemed to be a shock to people, which is funny because most people I know personally in the music scene are producers first. Fast forward to now, and I’m 23 years old and one-half of the production duo One Brain Cell, the other half being a producer and guitarist Brooke Magidson. We met almost two years ago and we’ve been making music together for about a year now.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only time making music is ever difficult is finding a way to support yourself until you get signed or drop a hit that gets you paid (barely anything) from streaming. I think independent artists get paid garbage and it’s enough to make you question whether or not you will one day be able to support yourself with music as the main source of income.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I produce, I write, and I sing everything I make. I think what truly sets me apart, though, is my ability to skate on any track I’m on. I can sing with a flow, much like Anderson.Paak or Missy Elliot. I wouldn’t go as far to say I’m a rapper, but I could definitely hold my own in a room with one or two or all of them. That coupled with my ability to create a melody that sticks is a recipe for a fun night in the studio and an individual sound that labels couldn’t recreate if they tried!!! Ha! We’re currently mixing the debut album and prepping the rollout. This album gave me more faith in myself as an artist and a producer. I think Brooke and I are an unstoppable force and I think we’re gonna change music. How see it, how we listen to it, how we use it. All dat.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I would not be Sintoria without Warren McRae (bass player for Tina Turner, Joe Cocker, Nona Hendryx, and more), Kevin Holliday(artist) Brooke Magidson(producer), Carla Earle, Rena Phillips, Alex Wiley, and Obba Babatunde. These are all people who either contributed to my craft or supported me in my effort to make it happen!!!
