Life & Work with Rocio Lopez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocio Lopez.

Rocio Lopez

Hi Rocio, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m an undocumented 27-year-old Latina who grew up in the southern part of Los Angeles. I come from a family who based themselves in creative activities, being musicians, singers, performers, or illustrative art. Naturally, I gave in to a small percentage of all the mentioned. I was in Choir and Dance during my middle school years and practiced digital creativity in high school. I got my certification for multimedia and put creating art as a primary focus, simultaneously perfecting handmade illustrative art as a hobby. I now create Art for digital purposes or for printing formats and make handmade Art consisting of pyrography, acrylic paint, and resin as a final touch. I focus more on the handmade art because that seams to receive more attention. I create what I am requested and add a special touch to it. Pyrography isn’t something that’s worked with as often as canvases are, so that makes it unique and eye-catching. I started off just doing artwork for fun until more people became interested, and that got me going with orders/requests

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth path; I’ve experienced times where I can’t always make money out of my art, at least not as much as I would like. There are times when I don’t get art requests for a period of time, and during times like that, I’ve come to question if what I am doing was the right thing or not.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create Art for digital or printing purposes and make handmade Art. My art is pyrography with touch of acrylic paint and resin. I also create content that brings empowerment to others.

As a freelance artist, I intend to communicate love and magic through my work and through my words. I want to serve as a reminder to stay in touch with our inner child. I like to believe that expressing what our inner child identifies with and being intentional with love is the best way of opening paradise and receiving what it has to offer. When you act on your highest excitement, it feels like an enlightenment to the highest possibilities and way of living. That is what I love about creating art and about creating anything. Through my work, I want to serve, to ignite passion, fire, magic, or some type of inspiration to believe in thyself. You open yourself to even more love when you do things with love.

How do you think about luck?
Good luck has allowed me to be able to express myself as most authentic as possible and be accepted as I am. It has brought the right people, situations, and experiences to me. Luck has allowed me to keep open to all possibilities and to receive inspiration in any format. My creativity and ideas have been flowing. I’ve witnessed the most beautiful things and have allowed myself to be inspired to keep moving forward and to continue to create things that are for the highest good.
