Life & Work with Rana Manzi of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rana Manzi

Hi Rana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Career Journey
My career began over two decades ago in the natural health field as a health educator and founder of Wellness Within Nutritional Consulting. Back then it was difficult to find clients willing to pay out of pocket for wellness services and I ended up falling into the Natural Products Industry. I quickly realized my passion for helping others navigate their wellness journeys. I worked in sales for major supplement and body care brands on the nutraceutical side of the industry – working in sales and education throughout. I advanced to become the Executive Director of Positively Natural Network, focusing on promoting natural health practices and community outreach and then became the Executive Director of Naturally LA a nonprofit out of Los Angeles that helps CPG brands in the natural space rise from inception to sale.
In 2022, I took a bold step and founded Well Powered Women, a concierge-style holistic health practice dedicated to helping women founders and C-suite executives manage their adrenal and hormone health. With my expertise in nutrition and holistic solutions, I aimed to empower women to prioritize their health amidst demanding careers.
Specialization and Philosophy
My unique approach centers on understanding the science behind supplementation and nutrition, emphasizing the importance of protein intake rather than calorie counting. I believe that women, especially those facing challenges related to perimenopause, menopause, and stress, deserve tailored guidance that addresses their specific needs.
Through my practice, I have become a trusted advocate for women’s health, offering a comprehensive wellness blueprint that includes discovery sessions, home audits, and nutrition assessments. My empathetic and thorough approach has made me a sought-after wellness coach among women leaders in Los Angeles.
Community Engagement and Events
My commitment to community is evident in my various initiatives. I actively organize wellness events, workshops, and panels, fostering a supportive network for women in the natural health and wellness industry. My collaborations with organizations Winona the telehealth hormone company and other natural practiutioners in the space demonstrate my dedication to spreading knowledge about adrenal health and hormonal balance.
Writing and Education
As a health writer and wellness educator, I share my insights through articles, social media, and video content. My writing not only highlights my expertise but also empowers other women to take control of their health journeys. I am currently developing a series on my experience with hormone replacement therapy, aiming to inspire and educate women navigating similar paths.
Personal Life
Beyond my professional endeavors, I embrace my intensity and passion in my personal life. My journey has shaped my understanding of vulnerability, relationships, and the importance of emotional well-being. As I navigate my own experiences, I continually learn and grow, sharing my insights with others.
Looking Ahead
With a clear vision for the future, I aim to expand my reach and influence in the wellness space. I envision hosting larger events and becoming a speaker for national panels, advocating for women’s health on a grander scale. My journey is a testament to resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to empowering women through holistic health.
My story is one of transformation, passion, and a relentless pursuit of wellness, and I hope to inspire countless women to embrace their health journeys with confidence and strength.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over the past 20 years, I’ve faced a variety of struggles that have shaped my journey and deepened my understanding of health and wellness. Here are some of the key challenges I’ve encountered:
Balancing Personal and Professional Life: As a founder and leader, finding a balance between my professional responsibilities and personal life has often been a challenge. The demands of running a business can lead to neglecting my own health and well-being which is counter intuative to my brand, but perfection never exists – it’s what we do with it that matters.
Navigating Career Transitions: Moving from roles in health education to executive positions and finally starting my own practice required significant adjustments. Each transition came with its own set of uncertainties and the need to adapt quickly.
Overcoming Self-Doubt: At times, I’ve struggled with self-doubt, questioning my expertise and whether I was truly making a difference in my clients’ lives. This internal conflict sometimes hindered my ability to fully step into my role as a leader and advocate. Imposter Syndrome can be real and paralyzing sometimes
Addressing My Own Health Challenges: As I’ve guided others through their health journeys, I’ve also faced my own health challenges. Navigating these personal health struggles while maintaining my vision has been difficult at times particularly 15-20 years ago when I was a young mother dealing with debilitating OCD.
Building a Client Base: Establishing Well Powered Women and attracting clients has presented its own challenges. I’ve faced difficulties in marketing myself and my services effectively, especially in a competitive landscape.
Confronting Vulnerability: As someone who values connection and empathy, I’ve had to confront my own vulnerability in relationships, both personally and professionally. This includes learning how to be open about my struggles while maintaining professionalism. In 2021 at the age of 45 I realized I was a late in life lesbian and am living a very different life than in the past when I was married to a man.
Financial Pressures: Starting a new business comes with financial pressures. I’ve had to navigate the ups and downs of income fluctuations, making strategic decisions to ensure sustainability.
Adapting to Change: The wellness industry is ever-evolving, and staying current with trends, research, and client needs requires constant learning and adaptability. This can be overwhelming at times, but it has also fueled my passion for growth.
These struggles have been integral to my personal and professional development, teaching me resilience, empathy, and the importance of prioritizing health in all aspects of life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality I feel is most important to my success is the empowerment of women. This focus drives everything I do in my practice, as I am dedicated to helping women recognize their strength, prioritize their health, and take charge of their well-being.
Empowerment allows me to create a supportive environment where women feel valued and heard. By encouraging them to advocate for their needs and make informed health decisions, I help them build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges related to their health and careers. When I rebranded my practice I was told by many that going too niche could be a detriment to my business. That I could help men as well and they believed I shouldn’t focus just on women. I disagreed and took a chance. For far too long women have not been the focus of the world, and for many reasons this leads to them not putting their health or themselves first. Only to their detriment. That needed to change.
This commitment to empowering women not only enhances my relationships with clients but also fuels my passion for creating a community where women can support one another. Ultimately, the empowerment of women is at the heart of my mission, and it plays a crucial role in my success as a wellness advocate and holistic health practitioner.
