Life & Work with Anna Haute Couture Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Osanna Anna Kotelyan

Hi Osanna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I am the founder of Haute Couture Events and Elysian Specialty Rentals, a multifaceted event production company, producing private and corporate events for over a decade.

The creative world was always enticing to me-from a young age. Eager to gain firsthand experience in the entertainment world, I began volunteering at Paramount Pictures. I loved sneaking onto the Star Trak: Enterprise sound stage to admire the set design and lighting production. However, after 9/11, the movie industry took a major hit, productions came to a halt. I had to make a career change to support myself throughout my college years which led me to a career in banking.
After eleven years in banking, I was ready to return to what my soul desired the most: creativity & production. Upon completing my MBA, I shifted my career path and embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, founding my own event production company.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new business is never a smooth road unless you have someone caring guiding you through setting up your first ever business.

One of the biggest challenges for me was – I had the glossy textbook version of entrepreneurship in mind. I considered all the important layers of business operation (financial management, marketing strategies, legal, branding and more) neatly mapped out in my head. However, the reality was far more complicated. Each aspect of the business needed time to be developed, refined and adapted. It needed patience and consistency.

In addition, coming out of corporate world, I faced a rude awakening when adapting to a new schedule- there are no boundaries. You need discipline. You don’t get to simply clock out and go home! Setting healthy boundaries was also one of the struggles for me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Our production company covers a wide range of event production and design: private events, corporate gatherings and non profit initiatives. From breathtaking weddings to corporate events featuring innovative marketing activations. We also support support non profit events for causes we strongly believe in such as Autism Speaks and Center for Truth and Justice.

What sets us apart is the following: focusing on getting to know our clients beyond just their vision for a single event. We are known for the time we invest in every single event, our transparency with our clients and the commitment to relationship-building is a stronghold of our success. I can deliver aesthetically stunning events for our clients; however, I cannot purchase a long term, fruitful relationship with clients. Ultimately, our success lies in creating memorable experiences that not only entertain but also foster connection and community.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The most important advice is to pay your dues before you join the club! Volunteer for creative production groups, take a part time job, a weekend job- immerse yourself in the industry of your choice. The hands on experience is golden before beginning your own entrepreneurial adventure. Stay consistent and every day work for it.
