Life & Work with Mr. Cliff’s Bandanas of Menifee & Atwater

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mr. Cliff’s Bandanas.

Hi Mr. Cliff’s Bandanas, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Mr. Cliff’s Bandanas were created by Mother and Daughter. The business is named after Maria’s Dog Clifford who was a puppy at the time. As pet owners who wanted their pets to have the perfect bandanas because they could not find the perfect fit or pattern at a store. Inspired by their pets wearing bandanas they came up with everyday use and holiday options together and the business grew. They came up with our own sizes based on the dogs they had at home so they could get the perfect bandana size.

Later they decided to make extra bandanas and offer them at a pop-up and surprisingly people loved it and asked where they would be next and if they had an Instagram. They did not have a storefront, a future pop-up date, an Instagram, or much product to offer. So, their adventure began.

Mother (Dulce) began sewing and Daughter (Maria) began cutting fabric and doing all the other fun stuff. As we grew, Natalie (Dulce’s Youngest Daughter) joined Mr.Cliff’s and she began to do Pop-ups and helped pack bandanas.

Mr. Cliff’s now has loyal customers who have started to build their Mr. Cliff’s Bandanas collections, follow Instagram, and follow the schedule to find their next locations. Their Bandanas can be found in the Central Valley, in Menifee, and surrounding areas.

As they continue to make and sell product for Mr. Cliff’s Bandanas, they love getting to know their customers, hear stories about their pets, see pictures of pets wearing their bandanas, and pet all the animals that visit.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not obstacle-free, but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Like any small business, there were learning curves, from sourcing materials to figuring out what designs actually resonate with customers, how to figure out the sizes of the bandanas. There were slow months and moments of doubt, but overall, it’s been incredibly fulfilling. The support from the pet-loving community has kept us motivated, and every challenge helped shape what Mr. Cliff’s is today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Dulce (Mother)- She has been a stay at home mom for most of her life, her children who are now adults. She has five dog of her own. She began sewing at a young age making alterations to her own clothing. She is known for having a green thumb, any plant she plants or trims it grows back quick and healthy. She is proud to have began the Mr. Cliff’s adventure with her Daughters and being able to give back to local shelters.

Maria ( Daughter)-I’m an alumni from Arizona State University and have my Master’s in Human Resources and Employment Law, building a strong foundation in workplace rights, policy, and people management. While I’m still exploring my exact career path, I’m passionate about understanding how to create fair, supportive, and effective work environments. I love spending time with my 5 dogs and traveling to new places constantly they both give me joy and something to look forward to everyday. I’m known for being approachable and open minded. What sets me apart is my willingness to grow through new experiences and keep learning through our bandana business which helped me grow socially as an individual and helped me find what I truly love do.

Natalie (Youngest Daughter)- A college student majoring in animal science with a strong passion for working with animals. She’s proud of building and being apart of a family business and is proud of her success in dairy judging, it reflects her dedication and hard work. People know her for the love of animals and for being outgoing in whatever she does. What sets her apart is her drive to constantly improve and push herself to be better, both personally and professionally. Whether she’s studying, judging dairy cattle, or helping with our business, she’s always motivated by growth, purpose, and a love for what she does.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the brand expanding not just in terms of products, but in its mission. I’d love to grow the line to include more pet accessories, maybe even matching sets for pets and owners. We would also love to give back through animal rescue partnerships, help out local shelters. In the next 5-10 years, I hope it’s a well-loved name in the pet space, known not just for style, but for heart. Ideally, it’ll still have that small-business feel just with a bigger reach.
