Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Lee.
Hi Michelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Before becoming a wedding planner, I actually worked in a completely different field. I spent most of my life in the music industry as a film composer before transitioning into weddings. I had always planned and executed small events for close friends and family, but the moment I knew I wanted to fully pursue wedding planning was when I organized my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary, essentially a mini wedding.
They never had the chance to have a real wedding when they first got married, so for their 60th anniversary, they wished for a vow renewal and an intimate celebration with our family. I handled everything, from sourcing vendors to designing the ceremony, dinner tables, and décor, and I genuinely enjoyed every step of the process.
On the day of the event, seeing my grandparents so happy and watching our family appreciate an experience I had created filled me with so much joy. After feeling that high, I knew I wanted to do more of this, and that’s when I made the decision to fully transition into wedding planning.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At first, I was worried about how to run a small business on my own since that aspect was completely new to me. But with the support of my wonderful husband and my incredible circle of friends (my emotional support crew), I quickly found my footing and was able to operate the business without any major challenges.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a wedding planner, I focus on creating meaningful, personalized, and beautifully executed celebrations for couples who want their wedding day to feel intentional and memorable. I specialize in full and partial planning, day-of coordination, design, guiding my clients through every step from shaping their vision and selecting vendors to logistics, styling, and managing the entire day.
I am known for my calm and detail oriented approach, as well as my ability to transform a couple’s story into a cohesive design that reflects who they are. My background in the arts and film composition influences the way I see events, because I understand emotion, pacing, and how every element works together to create an unforgettable experience.
My business motto is built on two core values: Trust and Genuineness. I believe couples should feel completely supported and understood throughout the planning process, and I take pride in creating an environment where they can rely on me with confidence. Many clients tell me they feel genuinely cared for, and that is the greatest compliment I could receive.
I am especially proud of the strong relationships I have built with my couples. What sets me apart is that I do more than plan weddings. I advocate for my clients, offer thoughtful and creative solutions, and stay fully present so they can enjoy their day without stress. My goal is always to create weddings that feel beautiful, heartfelt, and truly authentic to each couple.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I received so much support from my friends and family, but I want to give a special shout out to two people. The first is my loving husband, who has always supported me and my passion. He has given me the space and encouragement to pursue a career that I truly love. Without him, I would not have been able to step into the world of wedding planning.
The second person is my friend and fellow wedding planner, who encouraged me to take the leap into this industry. She shared invaluable advice, answered every question I had, and reminded me that I was doing well whenever I faced moments of doubt. Without her, I would not have had the courage to continue building this business.
