Today we’d like to introduce you to Floraina Three Hawk.
Hi Floraina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised with cultural herbalism as well as energetic abilities, I see and feel others differently. Walking through a lot of trauma in my early years gave me the ability to work with those who have experienced great pain, trauma, and abuse. My own journey allows me to stare into the eyes of my yazhí’s/ clients and truly see them.
Many years ago, a woman who now is my best friend visited her own Navajo (dine) Medicine woman, and in the fire, the medicine woman told her of the woman standing by the big water, who would be important to her and in medicine ways.
They prayed for me before even truly knowing me or having met me.
Over time I devoted my life to healing myself and learning the old ways of guiding another through healing. Using my own traumas and healing to sit in front of another and truly see them and give love towards their journey.
I was adopted by the Navajo by three different families: my dearest Shíma (mother) Susie, my best friend Melina and family, the Manuelitos, and Shízhé’é (father) Mr Red House, all tied to old medicine ways. Given the opportunity to learn blessings/cleansings as well as traditional words to be used in prayer.
At 40 years of age, I officially accepted the role of medicine woman. I was given the gift of wearing the symbol of a medicine woman and claiming my path.
I have also studied shamanic healing ways in the Mayan and Uto-Aztecan traditions. I have sat with some of the world’s leading shamans both modern and unknown as well as studied theology and some spiritual psychology to bring together a modern way of healing. I have a long seventeen-year career in Western medical/ surgical background as a 1st assist surgical technologist in order to bring both spiritual and human anatomy as well as the psyche together.
My goal is to bring love and a nurturing environment to all who wish to heal and move forward in their personal growth and path.
Letting go of all that does not serve them,
Remembering that;
You are loved
You are safe
You are love
And you will live through love.
Wishing love and light to all,
Floraina Three Hawk
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely has had its bumps. But has taught me patience and respect for the journey itself. In the beginning, I was afraid to spiritually come out as it was not as accepted or feared even. Not like today where spirituality seems to be more of a craze or fad. Keeping to old ways and not allowing the ego to drive popularity as well as financial gain is difficult. In the old way, our minds and our hearts follow a basic type of path to help and not harm. It is not about gain; it’s about being of service.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am whatever the people call me some say shaman, medicine woman, healer, curandera, bruja. Whatever they call me, I’m here to help spiritually, physically, and mentally.
I use native prayer, energetic work, herbalism, and big plant medicines in ceremonies to heal the hearts, minds, and spirits of those who feel stuck or lost.
My main focus is to move traumas and energetic pains from the body and spirit. There are many ways to do this. But it all boils down to faith and desire to change.
I am most proud in my relationships with my amazing clients or yazhí’s (spiritual children)
We develop long-term friendships and family bonds. I care deeply about the individual healing and movement. I love all I work with deeply. I believe in what I do and, therefore, have seen lives change.
I believe in the old way of a medicine person being donation-based and accepting what a person can offer safely, and sometimes that’s healthy foods, fabrics, spiritual gifts, money, or a combination. No one is ever turned away.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Having the ability to feel, see, and be connected to energy that surrounds us. That which most people cannot. From a young child, I was born to feel, see and hear those who passed and our guardians or guides. I also see color and energy around others. This is something I do not control but have learned to use to assist with guiding others to healing.
