Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Garcia.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey started after a few struggles I was going through. I lost both my jobs and was struggling to find work and was also fighting depression at the same time because I was frustrated at my life. One day my friend Juan asked if I would be interested in helping him prep hair for weddings then he eventually asked if I wanted to learn to do makeup. Then I assisted him for almost 3 years and then my journey continued and progressed.
I’m now going into my 10th year of doing makeup. I travel all up and down California for weddings and I have even gone to Vegas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The start was great because I got to assist my friend. Eventually I started getting my own bookings and building a great clientele. But at one point I hit hard spot after Covid I felt it was Even harder to get booked. I was questioning myself and Why I wasn’t getting bookings and felt like I wanted to give up. But I realized that I was not going to give up on my dream and the love I have for doing makeup.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I love about my job is that I get to work with amazing people all the time. From all different types of vendors, brides, pageant ladies, and mothers to be.
I’m known for my makeup skills and my quality of work and how much I love doing my job.
What I’m most proud I would have to say probably my recent work experience being apart of the CVlux Magazine.
What sets me apart.. I’d have to say the that my clients aren’t just clients they eventually become great friends. I care for each of them and always love hearing their stories and always show them love and appreciation.
What’s next?
Future plans I’d really love to take a special effects makeup course down the road or move to a city that offers that.
What I’m looking forward to is a vacation somewhere after my crazy wedding season. lol
But also to see how my business continues to grow.
No Big Changes yet but hopefully down the road.
