Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Fisk
Hi Marissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my farmers market business in Los Angeles CA in 2010 specializing in Gluten Free Organic Baked Good. I was the first vendor at Brentwood farmers market sourcing these type of products way ahead of the gluten free trend. I became a full time caterer to the Stars sourcing farm to fork meal prep. In 2012 we moved to Austin TX where I reopened a version of my old catering company.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was very challenging starting a new business and having to learn/ grow from the ground up. It was even harder to re-establish myself in a new city where no one knew who I was. But with each challenge brought new success because I have always been passionate about being a chef and artist. I never let the small challenges stop me I just adjusted and learned as they happened.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Meal Prep, creating gorgeous charcuterie and grazing boards, full time catering services, dietary issues, private chef services, gift baskets, retreats, and food styling. I am known for my food art that is pops of color and seasonal. I am most proud of the people I have been lucky enough to work for and the amazing job opportunities that have helped support my family. I am a full time working and stay at home mom/wife. Teaching my girls about home making and being a successful business owner. I hope inspire them as adults and teach them real life skills.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I draw from inspiration from nature and I mostly love following artists on the gram.
Some of my fav accounts are Must Love Herbs, The Delicious, Lilly Bubble Tea, Kale Junkie, The Modern Proper, Sara Haven, Sara Bailey, The Healthy Peach, and Clean Food Crush
I look within to create my art and the seasons.
I read a lot of spiritual/ Christian books, and listen to prayer & worship music to go into the flow. It helps me to listen and hear uplifting things that will inspire my Artist and healer within so I can transmute that into my work. It’s a deep spiritually connected place for me.
