Hi Manolo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
No Wrong Numbers began as a genre-defying Alternative Funk Rock band led by the Mexican producer now based in LA, Manolo Osorio. The journey started in Mexico, where the band gained recognition by winning the #1 position in the Sessions by VANS national contest in 2018. This early success set the stage for the band’s unique sound and ambitious projects.

The band’s upcoming single, “Absence,” set to release on August 9th, exemplifies their innovative spirit. The track blends traditional rock elements with experimental sounds, creating a bold exploration of emotional landscapes. From earthy Djembe rhythms and deep, resonant bass lines to the energetic chorus featuring a mix of guitars and synth-like elements, “Absence” showcases the band’s commitment to merging eclectic sounds with introspective lyrics.

Osorio’s collaboration with Kevin Parallax, adds another layer of complexity to their music. Parallax, originally from Mumbai, India, and now based in Los Angeles, brings his signature style to the track, particularly evident in the intricate bass lines and drum arrangements. Additionally, the vocal contributions of Alexia Chao in the second verse and choruses add depth and nuance to the track, further amplifying its emotional impact. This collaboration highlights the band’s willingness to explore new musical territories and innovate within their genre.

No Wrong Numbers’ dedication to their craft and continuous evolution has brought them from their beginnings in Mexico to the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the primary struggles for me was the challenge of relocating and establishing a presence in LA, one of the most competitive music markets in the world. Adjusting to a new city, building connections, and finding the right collaborators while pursuing an independent music career posed substantial challenges.

Despite these obstacles, my dedication and the band’s collective perseverance have been key to overcoming them. Our journey reflects a commitment to our artistic vision and a determination to succeed against the odds. Each challenge has been a learning experience, contributing to the growth and evolution of No Wrong Numbers as we continue to push the boundaries of our genre and explore new musical sounds.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m most proud of all the achievements No Wrong Numbers has accomplished so far. From playing at diverse venues and festivals to the evolution of our sound, each milestone has been a testament to our growth and dedication. I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds for us and look forward to continuing to push boundaries and explore new horizons.

I believe that what sets me apart is my constant pursuit of a distinct and original sound. I always strive to stand out and create music that is uniquely my own, ensuring that No Wrong Numbers consistently delivers something fresh and different.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
It’s challenging to predict the exact trajectory of the music industry with technology advancing so rapidly. However, I like to stay positive and believe that these advancements will ultimately benefit us. One trend I’m excited about is the continued rise of independent artists. Thanks to advancements in digital platforms and social media, independent musicians are now able to thrive and reach global audiences without relying on major label support.
