Life & Work with Lucy and Anet and Lusanet Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy and Anet. They shared their story with us below:

Lusanet Collective began with the vision of two founders who wanted to create a space that would support and empower small businesses and independent designers. Lucy and Anet had a passion for fashion and art and a desire to make a positive impact on the world, and they saw a need for a community-focused retail space that would offer a curated selection of high-quality products from a variety of designers. Through hard work, dedication and collaboration, today, Lusanet Collective is a creative retail space that continues to innovate and push the boundaries.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many startups, Lusanet Collective has faced its fair share of challenges and struggles along the way. Some of the main struggles that the founders have faced include: finding the right products, building a customer base, pairing designers with the events, and navigating the pandemic. Despite these challenges, Lusanet Collective has continued to thrive and grow. Challenges always bring forward creative ideas. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of its founders and their goal to support one another, Lusanet Collective has become the new retail destination in the Burbank community for its unique finds and exceptional customer experiences.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Lucy has been in accounting for the last nine years. She is a senior accountant in downtown LA. She is also one of the commissioners at the Burbank cultural arts commission. Lucy is also very involved in the local nonprofit organizations and has even co-founded Burbank Armenian Association with her husband. In 2022, she was recognized for her contributions to the community and was an honoree at the 32nd Women Achievers award by Business Life Magazine.

Anet is the creative director and CEO of Anet’s Collection, an art-inspired fashion and accessories company based in Burbank, California. Since 2015, Anet’s Collection, which features scarves printed with her art and jewelry inspired by Armenian cultural icons, has been represented by European showrooms, museum gift shops, and retail stores. Anet has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from CUNY—Queens College and holds a Business Certificate from the Bank of America Institute for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Cornell University through Grant from Tory Burch Foundation.

Anet is known to be the connector and through her influencing social page has collaborated with many brands and her seven years of growing Anet’s Collection by bootstrapping, has given her an insight to be able to coach and help many small businesses from basic Business 101 to branding and design & manufacturing. Her aim is to support and help any small business who joins the collective to their next level.

Both Anet and Lucy are members of the Female Founders Collective & 10th House Co-Founded by Rebecca Minkoff. Their life motto is to support small businesses, especially women entrepreneurs.

Together, the founders bring their unique skills and perspectives to the creation and growth of Lusanet Collective.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The fashion industry is constantly evolving and changing, and the next 5-10 years are likely to see a continued shift toward independent designers. As consumers become increasingly interested in unique, one-of-a-kind products, they are turning to independent designers for pieces that are not available in mainstream stores.

Another trend that is likely to continue is the use of technology to connect consumers with the brands. Online marketplaces and social media platforms have made it easier than ever for independent designers to reach a wider audience, and consumers are increasingly turning to these platforms to discover new designers and purchase their products.
