Life & Work with Lisa Tahir

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Tahir.

Hi Lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started when I was five years old and hand-scribbled a note my parents found that said, “I want to be a psychiatrist.”

I’ve always known that I want to help people and leave things better. Looking back, I was a sensitive child and teenager but didn’t understand why I felt things so deeply… I now know that I was empathic and could feel into the experience of others with my mind.

As an adult, I actively study how to use the power of our minds to create the life we want to live. I experiment with myself and then teach others what I know to be true. My recent book, “The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness” synthesizes philosophy, psychology, spirituality, and quantum physics into practical methods that you can use to change your life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
That’s an interesting question… My road is smooth now because I’ve learned to apply Universal Laws and principles through meditation. I meditate daily and intend the best of everything for myself and those I love. I’ll expand that intention to everyone in the world while in a meditative state and release that goodwill for myself and others (including the animals) into the Universe…

Looking to my past, the road was not smooth, but it was perfect. It was perfect because life has taught me great lessons that I can offer others and feel proud about- my life has made me super strong in every way, as well as creative, resilient, and cultivating to be happy regardless of temporary conditions. I often find myself in conversation with people wanting to heal an illness, heal from the loss of a loved one, become happier, more healthy and fit… I know how people can achieve all of these things, therefore I love authentic dialogues like this. It’s really fun to see the light bulb go off in someone’s mind and feel that same “ah-ha” within myself. Life is such an adventure to lived with every part of ourselves- mind, body, spirit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is fulfilling- podcasting, writing, speaking, being a therapist, making glass art… I approach life, work, and love from the perspective of, “What feels good today? Of all the things on my list to do, what feels the best to do right now? Who do I want to connect with today? How can I surprise them with a call, a text, an invitation?” By approaching each day from this mindset approach- things that were once unpleasant become more fun and easy. I encourage you to approach your life like this as much as you can. Maybe you put on music or a podcast to clean, have a glass of wine as you sit down to do your taxes, reward yourself with a favorite healthy meal after a challenging workout, or ask someone to celebrate an accomplishment with you, plan a trip?… It’s about allowing what you want, giving yourself permission to thrive, no matter what anyone else thinks. We get to choose what we believe.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t see luck as given to some and withheld from others. It’s about worthiness. How worthy do we believe ourselves to be? How deeply do we know that we deserve to have everything that we want? How can we suspend our criticisms and judgments of ourselves and others and let it in? Stop taking scores so soon. Release your timeline to allow your dreams to come true. As an example, I took nearly four years to write my book- that’s the time it takes for a college degree! Had I given into my doubts when they came up around, “isn’t this taking too long…?” I might have quit, and had I quit I never would have experienced the joy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama endorsing my book. Don’t give up on your dreams, give attention to them, work on them, attend to them consistently, give your full belief to them, EVEN when you don’t see obvious results, and they will materialize.

Do the deep healing you need to restore your sense of value and worth. I started therapy as a client at age 21 and have gone back when I’ve needed to. There is no shame in getting help. It’s wounded people who hurt others, sometimes without full awareness. Therapy can help you develop awareness of those shadow parts of yourself and bring them into conscious awareness to heal them. Giving these parts of yourself what you needed and didn’t receive will end potential cycles of illness, self-sabotage, and even abuse. You must do this deep work if you are going to be all of who you came here to be.
