Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa D’Amico.
Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From a young age, I was drawn to the boundless wonders of nature, the expressive facets of the human body, and the transformative power of color. These elements became the cornerstone of my artistic expression. Over the years, I have honed my skills and techniques, experimenting with various mediums and styles to find my unique voice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The obstacles I have faced as an artist are an inherent part of my creative journey. In the beginning, the financial constraints, cost of art supplies, studio space, and marketing were prohibitive. At times, the lack of financial support limited my ability to invest in my art and pursue my aspirations. The other major challenge was gaining artistic recognition and exposure. The struggle to get my work noticed by galleries, collectors, and the public sometimes made me feel defeated. Without a strong platform, it was difficult to build a following and establish my reputation.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My artistic process begins with an idea or feeling, and I let it evolve organically as I work. This process leads me to what I am best known for – my contemporary portraits and my abstract artwork. I am a firm believer in the power of experimentation and taking risks in art. I am constantly pushing myself to try new techniques, mediums, which allows me to grow and evolve as an artist. Whether it is through my bold use of colors or my incorporation of my favorite methods, painting with drawing, I study and explore to create a unique and captivating visual experience.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned as an artist is the power of embracing imperfection. This lesson has been a guiding force in my artistic journey, helping me to overcome creative blocks, develop my unique style, and find joy in the process of creating.
