Life & Work with Khemistvisuals Izova The Khemist of Los Angeles, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khemistvisuals Izova The Khemist

Khemistvisuals , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a hip-hop artist from Watts, California, and I’ve been creating music since my high school days. Over the years, the music industry has evolved drastically—when I started, it wasn’t common for artists to focus on creating visual content alongside their music. But as times changed, I realized the power of visuals in amplifying my artistry.

What first motivated me to pick up a camera was my natural eye for detail and a desire to explore something new. I knew that music videos were an essential part of an artist’s career, so I decided to invest in a camera, dive into research, and learn the craft. I often asked myself, “Could I really do this?” Instead of letting fear hold me back, I took action and went for it.

That decision changed everything. Learning photography and videography opened my mind to countless opportunities I hadn’t imagined before. It taught me to see the world from new perspectives, unlocking creativity in ways that enhanced my work as both an artist and a creator.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, producing photo shoots, music videos, and unique content. I founded my company, Khemist Visuals, and created the Mic Drop Tour, where I’ve produced over 100 videos (and counting) for independent artists worldwide.

My mission is to use my gifts to deliver exceptional work for my clients while also elevating my own music career. Beyond that, I’m passionate about telling meaningful stories and showcasing unique perspectives through documentaries and films.

Stay tuned—there’s so much more to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, the road has been pretty smooth. Of course, challenges and setbacks are part of the process—things go wrong, but those moments have always pushed me to find solutions and level up. As a photographer and videographer, there have been times when I forgot an essential light at home, left my speaker behind at a shoot, or even lost files on an SD card. Those experiences taught me to adapt, plan ahead, and stay ready for the unexpected.

Sure, YouTube tutorials can walk you through almost anything, but there were still times when I felt like I was navigating it all alone. Yet, those moments fueled my fearless attitude to keep going, keep pushing, and never stop growing. Each challenge became a lesson, and every mistake was just another step toward mastering my craft.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I’ve learned as a photographer, videographer, and creator is that versatility opens doors—the more skills you have, the more opportunities come your way. That said, I’ve found my specialties in photoshoots, music videos, and mic drops. As a hip-hop artist, it was a natural transition for me to connect with clients in the music industry who already trusted me and recognized my work.

What sets me apart from other photographers and videographers is that I’m an artist working with artists. This gives me a unique perspective to truly understand their vision—why they want certain things and how to bring those ideas to life. I can also guide them when something might not work creatively or visually, offering constructive feedback they can trust. Often, there’s a communication gap between creators, but I’ve found it easier to bridge that gap because I’ve been on both sides. I know how stubborn creatives can be, and I’ve learned how to explain ideas in a way that resonates with them.

If there’s one thing I’m proud of, it’s that I bet on myself. I took the leap, invested in my first camera, and built the confidence to start from scratch. Within just a year, I’ve managed to do what I once thought was impossible: buy my camera, pay it off through my work, shoot over 100 music videos, grow my clientele, and establish myself as a professional photographer and videographer.

It’s been a whirlwind journey, but every step has proven that when you take a chance on yourself, the possibilities are endless.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is proving to myself that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. It’s about showing up for my clients with 100% effort, being reliable, and consistently delivering work they can count on. At the same time, I strive to keep fun and creativity at the heart of everything I do, ensuring every project is both meaningful and enjoyable for everyone involved.
