Life & Work with Kartar Diamond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kartar Diamond.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I became a Feng Shui consultant in 1992 before the Internet got rolling and when very few westerners knew what it was. I immediately related to Feng Shui principles, appealing to my interest in metaphysics, environment, design, and helping people feel more empowered.

I was fortunate to meet authentic Feng Shui experts and masters to learn from and I had a lot of opportunities early on to teach and consult. Exceeding my own original expectations in pursuing an odd and obscure profession, I have authored several books, dozens of ebooks and founded my own Feng Shui School.

I enjoy helping people with their existing residential and commercial spaces, but helping people in the design phase and house-hunting process has also become a big part of my practice.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Practicing Feng Shui professionally has been a mostly smooth road for me and I have been blessed with wonderful clients and unique experiences. The only real struggle I’ve had over the last 30 years in my profession has been to keep up with technology and to not OVER-work. I’ve had to remind myself that as much as I love what I do, I have to keep my own life in balance by not overworking, and taking more time to exercise and relax!

Of course, many self-employed entrepreneurs can relate to this phenomenon, where you love what you do, but you can easily work 50-60+ hours a week and forget about having a social life!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
There are many different styles and approaches to Feng Shui and I have a skill set and methodology which is both practical and nuanced. Classical Feng Shui incorporates when a structure was built, its precise compass alignment and many other concrete tools which determine the unique energy of a space. Even though Feng Shui can still be portrayed in pop culture as a One-Size-Fits-All program of “never does this” or “always do that,” I am proud to say I have helped educate the public about Feng Shui as a natural earth science, and not a doctrine of superstitions or folk remedies which would not be helpful or relevant in modern times.

I’m very proud of my books (like birthing children) and they are totally unique in the field: Feng Shui for Skeptics: Real Solutions Without Superstition, The Feng Shui Matrix: Another Way to Inherit the Earth, and The Feng Shui Continuum: A Blueprint for Balanced Living. I’ve also made some of my own Feng Shui discoveries and hope that consultants in the future will be able to utilize the techniques and observations I’ve made, which I have documented as well in ebooks and dozens of case studies.

What sets me apart from other Feng Shui consultants includes the sheer volume of people I have worked with, the high level of consulting I provide with written reports, and the ability to help people worldwide with tools on the internet. I think that I help people focus on the “Big Picture” features to their surroundings, but I can also help someone micro-manage a single room if that is what they want. I can help people prioritize and told that I can take a complex topic and make it very easy to understand.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Feng Shui is a part of every person’s life, whether they believe in it or not. It is their immediate physical and metaphysical environment having an astonishingly predictable impact on our lives. I’ve learned that all things in life happen for a reason and it brings me a great deal of fulfillment to know that I have some wisdom to share with people and to help enhance their lives with relatively simple things they can do and change in their living spaces.

Whether it’s the practice of Feng Shui, my diet, my politics, my worldview, and with everything that has attracted my interest or passion, I have been living an “alternative” lifestyle most of my time on this planet and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
