Today we’d like to introduce you to K✱MI.
Hi K✱MI, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story has lots of twists, turns, and redirections. It all started mid-2017 when I was gifted my first video camera from my fiancée. After that, it was uphill from there, I spent all my free time soaking up any game and knowledge towards the music video industry. Fast forward two years to April 2019, I had finally gained the confidence I needed to leave my 9-5 and 100% commit to following my passion. From April 2019 – March 2022, I was directing, shooting, and editing my own music videos all over the country from Los Angeles to Miami and everywhere in between. I then got to a point of realization that my favorite part of the whole music video process was the visual effects side of things. So I decided to streamline my craft to visual effects editing. I’ve been told/knew I was a great director, shooter, and editor however splitting my attention three ways always held me back from being exceptionally great at one. I decided in March 2022 to dedicate 100% of my focus into visual effects editing and creating my now known Instagram @kamiswxrld.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to success has been a bumpy one with many twists and turns. This is what I believe makes the journey more valuable than the destination. Struggles come as quick as they go, being able to be patient enough to wait for your moment is what separates longevity from ephemerality.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is KAMI, specializing in visual effects. Also known for my super unique and vibrant style of editing separating me from the traditional music videos we all know and love. I get my greatest sense of achievement from my unmatched work ethic and determination.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my most prized childhood memories would have to be my parents waking me up every morning for school and ALWAYS having MTV Music Videos playing while my siblings and I would get ready for school. I feel that this was my first real exposure to music videos and the creativity they hold.
