Life & Work with Juan De La Rosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan De La Rosa.

Hi Juan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
This adventure started back in December of 2014, back in the day before TikTok and Reels, with a random #ootd picture I took and uploaded to my Instagram. At the time, I had but a mere 240 followers. Mostly close friends and/or acquaintances. But little did I know that a post I thought was just a fun trend would turn into years of making connections and reaching an audience who shared my love for fashion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has never been a smooth road. Especially because my niche became promoting a style that didn’t break the bank. Unlike many other influencers who align themselves with high-end brands that can run you thousands, I’ve always tried to collaborate with up-and-coming brands that won’t cost an arm and a leg but deliver high-quality products.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As much as I enjoy creating content, I’ve always tried to focus on my daytime job which is being a Graphic and Web Designer. Especially when the pandemic hit, I found it kind of difficult to focus on creating content when there were thousands of people dying a day from this horrible virus we knew little to nothing about. Pre-pandemic though, working as a graphic and web designer on various marketing teams has also helped me to be a little more self-reliant when it comes to creating content. I can shoot, edit, conceptualize and execute marketing campaigns without having the need to work with a third party. I’m the whole marketing team if you will.

What matters most to you?
Family is everything, followed by friends. Without the two, it doesn’t matter how successful one is.
