Today we’d like to introduce you to Jewel Palmer.
Hi Jewel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes, well, I am a healer and have many gifts. Apart from singing, writing, and composition I was blessed with the ability to empathize and claircognizance to transform. My upbringing was centered around religious and spiritual customs, but we were nomadic- I moved around from state to state my entire life, which I believed molded the characteristics which developed me in crucial adolescent years. I grew up knowing herbalism; my mom is a vegan and raised us to never eat meat (which I still uphold to this day). My family believed (and still believes) in holistic living and natural remedies, which I believe added to my likeness. My dads side of the family is from the British Virgin Islands, and I received a family inheritance of land on these territories. I was lead my impression and divine inspiration to use this land as one to heal and build a garden on it! However, I believed I must start my mastery to heal with herbs and transform the mind, body, and soul right here in my home in Los Angeles! I began taking herbal classes, experimenting with herbs in my daily diet, and dedicated my lifestyle to learn how to heal community and serve others in the best way possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been an interesting experience, more of an inward than external battle. I learned that authenticity is key, and if I want to use my gifts to heal with herbs by transforming the mind, body, and soul, then I must believe it is possible to do in my own life. I’m still practicing this lifestyle, but now I have a deeper understanding of how we were created from the Source (earth), take from the Source to eat, drink, make shelter, and survive, and give back our lives to the Source when we pass away.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a 27- year old writer, and have published a poetry book in 2019 called Through the Eyes of a Novice. I plan on publishing another poetry book come summer of 2026. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and am working towards a Masters’ degree for Comparative Literary Studies and Foreign Language in the coming spring. Apart from my creative career, I have built a local, black owned small business called Siloam Greenhouse which sells house herbal products, and created a sister branch Siloam Grassroots as a non-profit to give back to the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love to go on walks. I love the song It’s Gonna Be Lonely by Prince. I love the song heavy on my heart by Lucki. Afro blue by Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper. Real love songs. The color yellow. The movie Princess Mononoke. The views at Laguna beach. I love friend pb&j. The simple things make me happy.
