I embarked on my hairstyling journey right after college, and over 20 years later, my love for this craft has only grown stronger. The ever-evolving trends, innovative techniques, and groundbreaking color formulations continue to fuel my passion and inspire me every day. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
During the pandemic, my hair career faced challenges I never saw coming. Salons shut down, and like so many others, I was forced to pause everything I had worked so hard to build. The uncertainty was overwhelming—how long would this last? Would my clients return? I worried about how I’d stay afloat.
But in the midst of the struggle, I found resilience. I stayed connected with my clients through social media, sharing tips for at-home care and offering encouragement. When we reopened, safety became my top priority. I adapted to new protocols and worked harder than ever to rebuild trust and keep everyone safe.
Though it was a tough time, the pandemic reminded me of the strength in community and the importance of adaptability. Every client who came back after months away reaffirmed my love for this career and the relationships I’ve built. It wasn’t easy, but it made me stronger—and more grateful for the work I do every day.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I discovered the art of lived-in color, it completely transformed the way I approached hairstyling. I’ve always believed that hair should be effortless yet stunning—something that fits seamlessly into someone’s everyday life while still making them feel beautiful. Lived-in color became my passion because it embodies that balance.
I remember one client who came in feeling frustrated with the upkeep of her traditional highlights. She was tired of constant root touch-ups and wanted something more natural. That’s when I introduced her to lived-in color. We customized a blend of soft balayage and subtle dimension, creating a look that grew out beautifully and required minimal maintenance. When she looked in the mirror, her face lit up. She said, “This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!”
That moment confirmed why I love specializing in lived-in color. It’s not just about creating a beautiful look—it’s about giving clients hair that works for their lifestyle. In an industry that’s constantly evolving with new trends, techniques, and challenges, being able to embrace change and grow has been vital. Whether it’s learning the latest color formulations, adjusting to client needs, or navigating unexpected obstacles like the pandemic, staying open and flexible has allowed me to thrive.
Adaptability has also helped me build strong, lasting relationships with my clients. Listening to their needs, understanding their lifestyles, and customizing solutions for them ensures that I provide not just a service, but an experience they value. It’s this willingness to evolve and meet each moment with creativity and care that has been the foundation of my success.
