Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivan.
Hi Ivan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started 13 years ago, helping a colleague on a photo shoot, but I was simply an assistant. When he asked me to try taking some photographs, I replied that I didn’t even know how to turn it on! So I tried taking some photos, and to be honest, he also recognized that I took some beautiful photos and advised me to buy one and join him in his work. After a few years, we separated, and I began my journey alone, and it was my greatest fortune because I then began working with people from all over the world. I met a dear friend who works as a wedding planner, Giusy, and from there my career began to take off. Today I travel all over the world to capture those moments they will never forget, because I think the most beautiful thing about a photograph is that it never changes, even when people change.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my career, I’ve met many people, many of whom have put up barriers and made me feel inadequate, but I never gave up! My greatest strength is my smile and the way I make people feel good! I was very young at the time, and even though I tried to prove myself, many people didn’t believe I was capable. But over time, I gained satisfaction, receiving very important publications on national blogs like Brides, Rock My Wedding, Sposi Magazine, and others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My photography is focused on the love for details, the use of light and a tightened narrative rhythm, where the protagonists are not only spouses and lovers, but context surrounding them: nature and people as narrative elements. My style is based on real moments. No drama, no forced scenes, no built scenes. Of course, I will guide you as we speak, so that you are at ease, but it is important to me that there is harmony between you. In this way I can take very natural and smiling photos among you. I’m not the only one who creates the photo, but the most beautiful picture is created by you! Let’s create together.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe my true strength is empathy. After going through one of the darkest periods of my life, I began to read people’s minds. And what I try to do through photography is precisely to bring out what’s inside them.
