Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Houston
Isaiah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in middle school, the pure, experimental sounds of music from the 2016 SoundCloud era really sparked something inside of me. My path began with influences that shaped me outside of the mainstream, despite my lifelong love of music. Unlike the typical well-known names, this underground movement demonstrated to me that everyone could make a difference. That is being incorporated into my own sound. For me, moving from Philadelphia to Los Angeles was a game-changer. I was aware that I had to be there at all times if I wanted to have a significant impact in the music industry. Being here has encouraged me to forge my own path, and LA’s enthusiasm is inspirational. I’ve been dedicated to my goal. I’ve worked with major producers to mold my tracks since coming out here as I prepare to release my debut album, Birds Strike at Midnight. The most intimate work I’ve ever done, this album offers listeners a window into my life, ideas, and experiences.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been easy; I’ve faced several obstacles along the way that have tried my fortitude. Although it was a big move, moving from Philadelphia to Los Angeles had its own challenges. I had to deal with the music industry’s fierce competition, which made it often feel impossible to break through. I had moments of self-doubt, particularly when I wondered if I could stand out in a room full of well-known artists. As I tried to establish myself, I was also under a lot of financial strain. But these difficulties have just strengthened my will to achieve. I have become more dedicated to my craft as a result of every challenge, which has forced me to hone my voice and establish my identity as an artist.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a musician and songwriter that specializes in a distinctive fusion of hip-hop and experimental sounds, greatly influenced by artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and Playboi Carti. My work focuses on fusing trap components with experimental moods to create catchy melodies and powerful beats that connect with listeners. I’m well-known for my upbeat sound and creative production style. My debut album, Birds Strike at Midnight, which highlights my development as an artist and captures my experiences in the music industry, is what I’m most proud of. I stand out for my dedication to stretching artistic boundaries while being loyal to my roots, which produces a sound that is both new and recognizable.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve taken away from this trip is to always be authentic and to never allow someone to criticize or crush my aspirations. It’s crucial that I have faith in myself, despite other people’s doubts or criticism. I’ve been able to forge my own career in the music industry by remaining true to my vision, and I’ve come to understand that self-belief is the cornerstone of achieving my goals.
