My school days were ordinary, and my life was relatively regular, growing up in the Brea, Orange County, suburbs. I can admit, though, that I didn’t give my smell or how to keep it pleasant any thought before I delved into the realm of fragrance. I was among those who relied on deodorant, and at best I used it rarely. I didn’t really think about it because wearing cologne or perfume was something unfamiliar to me. One day, when a classmate wore a fragrance that totally captivated me, everything changed. It was Dior Sauvage, and I couldn’t believe how much attention and curiosity such a basic spray could arouse. That experience made me curious about the power of smell, and I started to see the influence that a well-chosen fragrance could have. Another pivotal moment in my perfume journey occurred when my father gave me his vintage Mont Blanc Legend Night bottle. This fragrance quickly became one of my all-time favorites. Mont Blanc Legend Night is a sweet, woody scent with a captivating depth that is perfect for the nightlife. Its rich, warm notes create a sense of sophistication and allure, making it an ideal choice for evening events and special occasions. The blend of sweet and woody elements in Legend Night has left a lasting impression on me, embodying everything I adore about fragrances.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While my journey into the world of fragrances has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t been entirely smooth. Although the fragrance world is quite beginner-friendly and accessible, there are a few notable challenges that can make the hobby less enjoyable and harder to navigate. Two major issues that up and coming Fragrance people often face are buying perfumes at inflated retail prices and getting scammed by counterfeit fragrances.

First, let’s talk about the issue of retail pricing. Many people are unaware that big retailers mark up fragrance prices by a lot which can lead to spending hundreds of dollars more than necessary. This is where discounters come in. Discounters are smaller retailers that offer fragrances at much more affordable prices, often saving enthusiasts thousands of dollars. However, finding reputable discounters requires a lot of research and can be challenging for the average buyer. I’ve been fortunate enough to discover these obstacles, and they’ve played a crucial role in building my collection without breaking the bank. But it’s a skill that takes time to develop and isn’t immediately obvious to new people on the business.

The second, and perhaps more concerning issue, is the number of counterfeit fragrances. Many sellers advertise perfumes as original or “testers”—fragrances meant for in-store testing but not for sale. Unfortunately, some of these sellers use the guise of testers to sell fake bottles filled with subpar liquids. These counterfeit fragrances might smell similar initially but often last only a fraction of the time they should. More importantly, the chemicals in these fakes can be harmful to your skin and lead to health issues.

I learned this lesson the hard way. Early in my fragrance journey, I fell victim to a scam and spent a few hundred dollars on counterfeit fragrances. The experience was disappointing and costly, pointing out the importance of being cautious and informed. To avoid such downfalls, it’s important to educate yourself and look out for reputable sources. Watching reviews, researching sellers, and sticking to well-known discounters can help protect you from these scams. A good rule of thumb is to remember: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Despite these challenges, the joy of discovering and enjoying genuine fragrances far outweighs the difficulties. With some resilience and knowledge, you can navigate these obstacles and fully appreciate the beauty and complexity of the fragrance world.

I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made in merging my passion for fragrance with my entrepreneurial aspirations. Building a business that aligns with my values and helps others discover and enjoy high-quality scents is deeply fulfilling. The combination of content creation and business development allows me to offer valuable insights that enhance the overall fragrance experience for my audience.

One of my favorite childhood memories is tied to my mom’s perfume. I would always be buzzing with excitement because I knew something fun was about to happen.

I remember the feeling of seeing her ready to go, all dressed up and smelling amazing, and it made everything seem more exciting.
