Life & Work with Georgeana Ireland of Newport Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgeana Ireland.

Hi Georgeana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My artistic gifts have been part of my childhood as long as I can remember. I was 6 years old when I started painting oils with my grandmother.
By the time I was a teenager I knew it was my desire to become a professional artist. At 19 years old, I was accepted into art galleries to exhibit my work. Later as a young single mom I supported my family painting murals as well as exhibiting in galleries. When my main gallery in Laguna Beach closed I made the decision to open my own gallery. Ethos Arts just celebrated 10 years in Newport Beach.
I’m grateful to have an international footprint and to have exhibited in museums, galleries, airports as well as the US Embassy in Latvia

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No but I do feel like it is important to live your life with purpose and for me it is about creating and shining a light on the arts. It’s not an easy road and sometimes its an uphill battle but its rewarding when I can see the contribution I am making to my community and the difference I make with the various charities I am a member of.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
First and foremost, I’m an artist. My work is intuitive, emotional, large lyrical abstract works.
Secondly, I’m also an art evangelist shining a light on the arts and supporting artists.
I’m also involved in multiple charity organizations within Orange County that support various causes but what I’m most proud of is that Ethos Arts supports a charity in Haiti called Psalms139Love. My daughter has travelled with them helping to develop a village for single mothers and children. We hope to start working with Haitian artists, that door has just recently opened for us to further explore.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was shy and pretty timid but I was always the artist in every class.
I was more likely to be drawing or nose-deep in my friends books rather than outside playing. I was always drawn to anything creative
