Today we’d like to introduce you to Francois Fritz.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started making music around the age of 12, self-taught, which is just a fancy way of saying I’m not a classically trained musician. I moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and did some work with an engineer by the name of Keitel Jr at Lowe Key Studios.
I was later inspired by a group of artists whom I met through my neighbor at the time in 2017, shoutout Wrist The Greatest, 007Bonez & Jazmen Safina, some of the artists I met in that space.
From 2017, through the pandemic, to now I worked on my art. I made a bunch of trash to get where I’m at with it now; it’s just a natural part of the process. I’m constantly learning and evolving as a producer the more I’m able to work with artists in the studio.
For me, making art is all about collaboration; that’s where the real magic happens. I can sit at home and make beats all day, but I’m really just not as excited about that as I am about recording artists and collaborating with them to make something new.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, no. I struggled with self-doubt/confidence, allowing outside noise to cloud my vision and finances. It wasn’t until I was able to kill my ego and change my perspective through hard times and experiences that I realized the Mandelbrot effect.
There will always be chaos, and through the turmoil, you find order. It’s a repeating pattern that we all live in, and being objective and understanding what you can and can’t control will guide where your effort and energy can be amplified best.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I do is not limited to making beats or producing songs in the studio. I’m more than a recording engineer or a writer. I’m known for making slaps, being collaborative and creative, helping bring the vision an artist has come to fruition.
I’m most proud of my latest work with 007Bonez, Store Run a West Coast sound with a Memphis rapper something I haven’t heard much of if at all. We have three singles out now; Fresh At The Function, Branded one of my personal favorites, and Sto’ Run.
This will be my first full-length project in which I produced all of the music & recorded most of the artists in a studio outside of some of the features from artists in Tennessee.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to put the music above all else. I got my ego outta there when it comes to this. If I make a beat and the bass line is just right, I’m changing it. If you write a rap, but you’re not able to record it the way it’s written, I’m gonna tell you to rewrite it to make it work. Too many people wanna record the first thing they wrote and keep the first take they recorded, but if you’re not 1 Take Jake I’m gonna tell you.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Yeah, Store Run is on the way. There are three singles out now Fresh At The Function, Branded, and Sto’ Run. Available everywhere you get your music.
