Life & Work with Esmeralda Ginez of Sherman Oaks & Oxnard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Esmeralda Ginez

Hi Esmeralda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2020 I was working for a workers comp attorney as a legal assistant and I started to get really curious about lash extensions. I decided to find a school in LA because in Oxnard where I reside there wasn’t many options. I was getting tired of working a 9-5 & realized that I can start learning about something I actually liked such as lashes. As time went by I found a school and learned all about them on LA, & then started to post on my instagram that I had just got certified and was taking clients for free so that I could of practice and obtain the experience. Time moving forward Covid hits and I got my hours cut at work and was short a few hundred dollars every week. With this happening I decided to quit my job and told myself that I will do lashes full time because I saw the potential that I had and figured that if I promote myself I was going to make it happen. I then focused on lashes full time and it was definitely a rough hard wave, sometimes I had the clients and sometimes I didn’t and this where it really also began to get to me. I started to think that I made the wrong decision and that I should have never quit my job. I was able to overcome this by advertising myself on Facebook and this then helped me get more clients. As time went by a lot of these lash clients started asking about eyebrows. I had no idea about microblading and ombre until my clients brought it up to me that got me into looking about obtaining a training to offer a new service. Time moving foward I went back to LA & took 4 different eyebrow classes with all different instructors and now I mainly focus doing Ombre Brows. Ever since, this has become my specialty and I enjoy providing beauty services to my clients. I will be doing brows for 3 years now and I have also had hard times at the beginning but as time goes by I have learned that business comes in waves and you won’t always be in that position where you feel stuck you will succeed. I now work in a suite in Oxnard and also in Sherman Oaks location. I enjoy and love what I do, and I am more pleased to know that I can enhance and help someone with their beauty.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The moment I decided to quit was the biggest struggle because I decided to go into something not knowing if I was actually really going to make it or not or in general be good at it. I definitely struggled a lot gaining clients at the beginning because your new and sometimes people don’t want to work with someone who is new and that’s totally okay. I definitely would sit and cry sometimes asking why I wasn’t as successful as everyone else but I had to stop and realize that I was just starting and consistently had to remind myself that struggle is for a little bit, you have to struggle in order to become better.
The road has been bumpy but I have learned to appreciate every single bump because that is a lesson that you will eventually learn from.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
