Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Alvarado.

Hi emily, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020, many people who held full-time jobs transitioned to part-time positions, causing them to seek other ways to make up for the lost income including me. Everybody began to get scared no one knew how challenging things would become. So I decided to invest in a body sculpting course which is non invasive procedures to help remove fat deposits under your skin. Over the next few months, as I built a loyal clientele, I was able to invest in a second course, this time focusing on lash extensions. By 2021, with my new skills and growing business, I was able to leave my 9-5 job and fully transition into running my own business full-time. I started off my business from my parents’ house, but as my client base grew, I decided to take the next step and open my own studio. This allowed me to offer a more professional and comfortable environment for my clients. Eventually, I took another risk, moving out of my studio and moved into my own home, where I could continue to grow my business in a space that was entirely my own. 2025 BodybyEm has accomplished goals that seemed impossible. Ive now expanded from working in different cities to an online shop to where I have become a supplier to other last techs worldwide to coming out with my own cosmetic brand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges I faced at the beginning was the lack of strong family support. Many people thought this was just a phase, and quitting my job, especially during the pandemic, was seen as financially irresponsible. Their lack of support only motivated me to prove them wrong. Along my journey in 2021, I faced an unimaginable loss: my dad passed away. Grieving a loss was one of the hardest experiences of my life, especially at 21 while trying to plan a funeral. My mental health hit its lowest point, and finding the strength to continue my business felt nearly impossible. But I knew that giving up was not an option I had already sacrificed too much.
Running a business comes with its own set of challenges, such as ensuring I deliver the highest quality service not just for my clients, but for my customers as well. Finding reliable vendors has been a journey in itself. It’s a process of trial and error, taking losses along the way until I find the right fit. But for me, it’s all worth it because I know that the quality I provide represents my dedication and care for the best possible outcome.

As a lash technician and supplier, I specialize in creating Mega Volume sets for a dramatic, full-volume look, and also offer beautifully textured Wispy sets for a unique, personalized style. My passion for top-tier customer service ensures that every client leaves my studio feeling confident, with the perfect set of lashes to match their personality. I truly believe that the way you interact with people and present yourself says a lot about how you run your business, and that’s why I’m known for not just my artistry but my commitment to creating an unforgettable experience.
