Life & Work with Christopher Purdy of Studio City,CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Purdy

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Woo the famous question… rewind the tapes here a little. A buddy of mine “Sean” reached out 7 years 2016 ago and asked hey Chris I’m starting a foodie page on social as “@ORLANDOFOODGUYS… would you like to be part of this? “You mean all I would have to do is just show up and take a few pictures and eat… count me in let’s roll” so back then with social media as it was… who knew which direction to go about and how to exactly monetize on it… so the first few years where it was strictly a hobby. We would call one another and drop the code for let’s go get content… “you want some food” literally getting in the car and just drive around town until we found a hidden gem… then We started to receive a few neat invitations to high end restaurants…local events … local judges food competitions… as the page grew! About 3 years into the project we had a few bumps in the road as business partners… AND THAT WAS THE END OF OFG 2020… so Sean took over the YouTube Channel and I took over OFG now as @TRAVELINGFOODGUYS even as of today we are still homies! We always joked about don’t make me cross out the S… 2020 was a very interesting year for @Travelingfoodguys the year the page started to monetize…restaurants were in a dark pit with all the lock downs and these restaurants were looking in any direction to show that they are still open for carry-out options…so I travelled to 35 different states and represented local mom & pops establishments during 2020… 2021 was a nice transition where I started managing social media pages for local businesses… that took a huge chunk of my time for about 1 year I was managing 15-20 different pages! 2023 ish back to the drawing board it’s time to to bring TFG back to life! I purchased one of those GIANT Sprinter Vans for self marketing and wrapped it with my face on it! And I got sponsorship from America’s Largest Injury Law Firm Morgan & Morgan… the one hit wonders were getting pretty slim and very competitive as the influencer lifestyle was increasing rapidly! So now I Eat.Drink. And Travel! Full time!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest trick to any business is how do you actually monetize… yes you have a few ideas in mind but those never seem to be on that smooth road… as social media started to really take root on digital marketing and you can get 1000’s if not millions of views by a click of a button.. that’s when SM really got competitive on actually making a solid business … influencers are like local news reporters who’s first to post about new and trendy experiences… how to be different was and still is huge factor in the industry…

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
When people ask what is it that you actually do… Eat.Drink. And Travel! And take pictures… “no way that’s so cool!” And the 2nd biggest question is really? For who? For my self 7 years in the making…the consistency and trends are the most fun and stressful part of social media… mines a little bit more less stress I aim at local mom and pops restaurants… but you can never have enough content no matter how good and large your team is… I’m not a critic… I’m here to help!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The success to my story is you never know who is watching your content. I don’t show or speak on politics… the internet has changed again… you use to go online to get away from work / reality … now you live through other social media as windows to escape … and me just being has helped a huge part of my success.
