Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Groh.
Hi Caleb, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a military kid from LA County, but lived all over the States and picked up a Tennessee accent (where I spent most of my 20s). I knew when I was 9 I was here to be a musician, I got my first guitar in San Diego and started writing songs inspired by Radio Disney (mostly Nelly Furtado). Good stuff started happening, I got some awards and was on the show Nashville, etc, but in a big way I feel like I did it backwards; I settled down, then I had to burn everything and start over, it feels like I’m still on fire.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My ego used to get in the way, I blocked a lot of blessings because I was to be a real “trier”, and I thought I could do everything on my own when all of my successes have actually come from others lifting me up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve always been known as a lyricist and producer. I’m very proud of my new work (coming out this year). I also love other mediums- sculpture was actually my primary source of income through my 20s.
What are your plans for the future?
I’ve got a ten years plan. I spent my 20s figuring things out and being a little too comfortable at times. My 30s are really about my legacy- I holed up and honed in on my voice, lyrics, production, and am finally releasing this year. I’m playing the long game.
