Life & Work with Blayne Pacelli of Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blayne Pacelli.

Hi Blayne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was a restaurant manager for many years. I graduated Hotel/Restaurant Management at the University Of Las Vegas in 1989. I thought I wanted to own a restaurant but i really hated it but for some reason I stayed in the business way way too long. I finally hit a breaking point and wanted to do something different. My best friend, who is still a realtor, inspired me to try the business. Both the restaurant business and real estate are in the people pleasing business. In 2002 I took my test to become a realtor and got married. I didnt physically get my license until February of 2003. I bought a house and got my license two days apart. For the first year and a half I waited tables in the evening and in the day I was building a business. The day I quit working in the restaurant business was one of the best days of my life. I truly enjoy helping people get the best price possible for their house or lowest price if I am representing a buyer. A lot of my business comes from past clients, farming(I walk 3000 homes a month), and my networking group(BNI). In my business we dont get paid unless we close a deal. Working hard has never been hard for me. Really diving into the ever changing contract and learning it to be able to help my buyers and sellers through the trials and tribulations of an escrow period is very important to me. I am amazed how many agents do not know the contract. I am 60 now, I love what I do. I will probably work 10 more years!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think every job has there up and downs. Working with certain people have been difficult. Making mistakes and learning from them is always important. When covid hit and my escrow company was ravaged by covid was very challenging as there was only one officer handling many deals and she got overwhelmed and made many mistakes which infuriated many clients. Watching people you thought would use me and didnt for various reasons were and are tough. Smooth escrows are great but some are very challenging. Being knowledgeable about different areas is a blessing but some things are out of my control. When you represent both the sellers and the buyers on some deals is very stressful. The seller does not want to give money away and the buyers want credits and fixes. Some agents on the other side of the deal can be very stressful too.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I consider myself a financial planner of hard assets, i.e. realtor. I want to help my clients get wealthy. I specialize in residential real estate but I do dabble in the commercial side too. I am known for my hard work and gentle demeanor. I am not a salesy person. I listen to my clients, find out what they need and work my tale off to make their dreams come true. What I am most proud of is helping people build their portfolio so they can have a better retirement and give their wealth to their children. What sets me apart is that I fight for my clients, I listen to my clients and I truly care about each one.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Having a loving Mother and Father. My parents wanted whats best for me, they were always behind me and wanted to help me succeed. I was bullied as a child but my parents got me through, listening to me and helping me through my trauma.
