Life & Work with Arvin Peraza of Korea Town

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arvin Peraza

Hi Arvin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Arvin was born in LA to a Salvadoran House hold, at the age of 7 him & his mother moved to a city in Canada named Ottawa, while growing up he would travel back & forth between Ottawa & Los Angeles during the summers.
Growing up he would be surrounded by Artistic & hard working women including his Mother, Aunts & Cousins all artistic in their own ways whether that drawing, painting or singing.
While in high school he would build his first Desktop computer learning how to Edit Gaming Clips (Counter Strike Global & Black Ops 2 Gameplay) on programs like Sony Vegas later transitioning to After Effects & Premiere Pro, from the art of editing video clips he would pick up a camera in his 10th grade of high school during photography class, he would find an interest in photography but due to his financial situation he wouldn’t have a personal camera until the age of 18 in which he worked part time at Vans to purchase his first $200 Canon Rebel Xs.
He would begin his Photography journey with Street photography, months later Outdoor portraits, after a year of doing photography he booked his first Studio Session in which he learned the techniques of Studio Photography.
He would continue to pursue Studio Photography booking Clients every month & building a unique style that is recognizable.
While doing studio photography he would show a passion in nightlife photography presented to him by a DJ named by DJ Viibz part of an Event called Amashowza, Arvin would join their media team ran by Godwin & become the lead photographer for that group & build his own style for his nightlife photography.

On the path of expanding his business he traveled back home to Los Angeles to build his foundation there, working with talented creatives, building connections, & continuously creating new photo projects to further boost his work & bring on new talented individuals that are not yet seen.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Lots of people that are not in the creative space would not be able to understand the amount of work we put in to build a career out of what we enjoy doing. In photography a lot of outside people have a belief that it is an easy job and that anyone can do it just because they can purchase a camera at a store.
There is a lot of times where some months are not as eventful & you as a business owner have to be prepared to be under stressful positions not knowing if you are going to be above water or not.

There is a lot of burnout & back end work done that does not leave much time to actually take photos, most of the time you are going to be behind a screen whether that’s editing photos or marketing your business.

If you afraid of rejection you will not have a fun time in this industry as you will need to learn to not let a no affect you as well as learn that if you do not chase those opportunities they will not always be handed to you.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Studio portrait photography & nightlife/event photography. Depending who you ask I can be most known for my Studio Photography as that is what I present most on my pages & website,

I am proud of all the recent projects I have been releasing but even though outdated, my favourite project is my “Wall Art” Collection, a set of images built for the person viewing the images. Letting the viewer build their own emotions & opinions on the images, I’ve removed faces on the images so the viewer does not build a connection with the person in the image, but allowed them to build their own emotions & thoughts whether that is a story they see, a feeling they receive from what they see or if they overall like the look of the image.

What sets me apart is the overall look of my images (Color, Composition, Lighting) & my own judgement of my work wanting to do better then my previous project.

What matters most to you? Why?
What’s matters to me the most is showing my Latin people that it is possible to be successful in whatever you set your mind to, nothing is going to stop you, you will have to use more of your time & maybe work a job while you chase your goals but at the end it will be worth it, you will make your children proud and they will look up to you & proud t hat you’ve also done this for them.
As well making my mother proud and showing that I was able to do what I always said I wanted to do.
