Life & Work with Terrell Garnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrell Garnett.

Hi Terrell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started from nowhere; what I mean by that is I never thought I would have a podcast or even be a life coach. Growing up, I knew two things I loved music, and I loved helping people. I got into the music business strange enough through MySpace. I met a few up-incoming artists signed to major labels, built relationships with them, and started doing assistant work and marketing. Fast forward seven years, I knew that something needed to change after passing up the opportunity to be on MTV’s Real World. I heard Actress Niecy Nash say something that stuck with me. I then knew I wanted to make helping people my main focus. I went to school to be a Certified Life Coach. Knowing I still needed to be heard, I had a few Friends push for me to do a Podcast. I always dream of being a TV Show Host of some sort, but this is like my stepping stool to get to my dreams, and I can still use music. So this podcast bridges the gaps between my Life Coaching and still helping artist.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think growing up, people have someone to look up to. A father or big brother or even someone they look up to like a Kobe Bryant, but for me, I never had that. I felt the struggles in what do I want to do with my life. Who do I want to be. I would find that things I may be good at I had no passion for. School wasn’t for me. So has this been smooth? No, but I will say the beauty is not in the destination. It is in the journey which people fail to realize.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Certified Life Coach. I specialize in relationships. I believe in all types of relationships are the same, minus the different types and levels of intimacy. So when I say I specialize in relationships, I mean all types (Love, Friendships, family, etc.) I am also A podcast host. I have my own podcast called “Create Your Own Story with Terrell Garnett” The podcast is centered around showing people that no matter who you are, you too can live out your dreams. In this world, sometimes we have people tell us who we are. I am here to tell you that you are the only one that can define you. My podcast is an outlet to have people come on and tell their stories only the way they can. What I love the most about my podcast and what is different is that I have everyday people on and celebrities; it is a way to show we are all the same. The podcast will also show people they are not alone and they can concur anything.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
If you knew me as a child, you would say I have not changed at all. I have grown, yes, but I have always been a straight shooter. My mouth has always been slick, and I have just now learned tact when dealing with people. I am a fire sign, so you can already know I’m going to say what is on my mind. People thought I was shy at a young age, but I was honestly reading the room to see how I should act. I still do that to this day. Music has always been my outlet. I have mange to use that to be able to work with some notable artists. Fun fact I am a huge wrestling fan; just the ability to be athletic, be able to act, and tell a story with your body has always amazed me.
