Life & Work with J. A. Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to J. A. Moreno.

Hi J. A., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Barcelona and from a very young age, I started shooting short films with my friends. I’ve always liked music, so when I was 16, I started working as a DJ for some clubs in the city. This is where I started meeting other DJs and producers who needed music videos for their songs and where my career as a music video director started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To work as a freelancer is never smooth, you need to spend a lot of unpaid hours that you will be only able to cope if you love what you’re doing to the point in which you don’t think that you are working at all. As many people know, music video budgets are not the higher ones in the industry so probably to work exclusively on music videos as a way of living would be one of the hardest things to achieve in my career.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a music video director. It’s been ten years since I directed my first music video for some college friends and since then I have worked with artists such as Sting, Will.I.Am, Paris Hilton, Steve Aoki, Lay Zhang, AGNEZ MO, Desiigner, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Andrés Calamaro, Afrojack, SHAED, Cheat Codes, Showtek, Blasterjaxx, Juicy M, Bassjackers, MATTN, MAKJ, Crooked Colours and Fernanda Martins, as well as collaborated with labels such as Atlantic Records, Ultra Music, Warner Music, Sony Music, Universal Music, Spinnin’ Records, Smash the House and 300 Entertainment.

I think that what sets me apart from other is that I really have a lot of fun directing music videos. I watch many of them every day, I know the directors, artists’ styles,… It’s what I love to call “a paid hobby”.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If an artist has a song pending to release that needs a music video, I would love to hear it in order to come up with amazing ideas. You can check out my featured music videos at: www.jamoreno.tv
