Life & Work with HTR$

Today we’d like to introduce you to HTR$.

Hi HTR$, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was also interested in music at a young age, my parents put me the church choir when I was and even bought me my own drum set at the crib. As I grew older, in high school I used to make songs at the homie YC pad. We dropped a song on YouTube and everybody at school was f*cking with it (regardless if it was real love or not) that made me think I was on to something. It was always that one person that thought it was cool, I only listened to their opinion. I never listened to negative people, never will. Skipping to my days in college, that’s where it got super serious. I was recording 4-5 times a week (still am) and got so deep in that I dropped out of three colleges in two years. School just isn’t for me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely has not been smooth. The world feeds off negativity and that’s just something I’m against. I always keep my peace close to me and it seems like the worse of a person you are, the more people want to see you. It’s a weird world we live for sure.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist/producer/audio engineer. I’m most proud of just keeping tunnel vision through it all and really keeping to my own lane. I’m never worried about the next man. I would say my voice alone sets me apart because it’s really nasally. I used to actually get looked down upon growing up cause my voice was so high-pitched.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Definitely, everybody about music will change in the next ten years. It’s pretty dark times, so the perception that everyone is living in is “negativity”. A lot more dark melodic music but it’s okay, it’s what we are living out here! Also, everything can be done independently now so creativity is at an all-time high
