Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Luckey.
Chelsea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My career started at a young age when I discovered my passion for fitness through sports. My dad coached me to be the hardest worker on (and off) the field, which led me to success in my craft. There were highs and lows in my athletic career – I blew out my ACL and MCL on my left knee but held strong to my core value of never giving up. In my senior year of high school, I landed a full-ride athletic scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University on Oahu and during our freshman year, we won a D2 World Series Championship. That was the biggest accomplishment of my life but I didn’t realize how much my athletic career would fuel my future fire for fitness.
When I graduated from college, my career path took me into medical/outside sales. I have been blessed with amazing companies, products, and managers. Yet, my soul lacked its fulfillment that affected my overall well-being and I fell into a rut. This lead me down a path of introspection to find my fulfillment.
On my journey, I came across a Pilates teacher training at Set & Flow in Hollywood and decided to enroll. Making that move was the best decision I’ve ever made and reconnected with my core love for fitness and athletics. Helping others better themselves physically and spiritually through this platform is what sets my soul on fire and makes me feel alive.
In just under a year, my career in fitness has grown bigger than I could’ve dreamed, and we are only getting started. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is rarely smooth in one’s journey. I’ve struggled with working two jobs and properly managing my time to be great in both crafts. I’ve struggled with negative self-talk that told me “I am not good enough to do this”, “who am I to teach and coach when I am just getting started”, “people are so much further along than I am, I’ll never get to their level”. I have struggled with putting myself out there and receiving “NO’s”.
My best advice for all my ladies out there who are starting on their journey is: KEEP GOING
– Remove the toxic people from your life who tell you, you are crazy.
– Give up the need to be LIKED by everyone.. your business is not to please everyone but to speak loudly to the ones who resonate with you.
– Give up the need to control everything and focus on the things you can control.
– Give up the need to be perfect, you’ll only let yourself down.
– There is no such thing as an overnight success – keep building brick by brick and eventually, you’ll have a wall
– DREAM BIG – aim for the moon and if you fail, you’ll land among the stars.
– Treat yourself right, emotionally, spiritually and physically… your body is your home and to be the best version of yourself, treat it with care.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with LuckeyFitness – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a fitness instructor/personal trainer. I am working to build a fitness business by instructing, taking personal clients, partnering with brands and eventually, teaching large scale fitness classes to the masses.
I am most proud of my ability to show my students/clients that they are capable of anything they set their mind to. Whatever you imagine, I know that you can have it and sometimes, we all need someone else to believe in us. This is not limited to fitness, there are no limits to our capabilities. My most cherished moments are when someone tells me they are inspired by me and want to now pursue a passion of their own.
What sets me apart from others is – I have been to rock bottom and was forced to single-handedly rebuild my life. Of course, my family and friends support me through this journey but I had to figure it out myself. I have told myself every single negative thing you can think of, there have been plenty of days where I couldn’t get out of bed, but I never gave up and fought for my happiness. Life hasn’t always been this good and if that is where you are at now, that does not have to be your end destination.
Who have you been inspired by?
My mother, Christa Luckey. My dad was sick for a long time and she never once gave up on him. She worked as many jobs as she could to keep our family afloat, at the same time as, being my father’s full-time caretaker. I can’t think of a single time she complained or let me see her sweat. Because of her hardwork and resilience to the trials and tribulations of life, my young life was normal as it could be. I learned that we never give up, we never give in and we break through every obstacle in our path. She is the most resilient and beautiful woman I know.
I am truly inspired by any woman out there who gave the middle finger to the status quo and took a leap of faith on their dream. We need more of us out there.
