Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Melissa Okabe of LA-South Bay

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Melissa Okabe. Check out our conversation below.

Melissa, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day is dedicated to self care and centering myself for an outstanding day through Meditation, journaling, walking my dog, then getting ready for the work day!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Melissa Okabe is a 2nd Generation Real Estate Broker-Associate at Alta Properties, specializing in Residential Real Estate in the Los Angeles area. She is committed to helping her clients open and close this very important chapter of their life with professionalism and ease.

In additional to being a full-time Realtor, Melissa is honored to give back by serving as a 2025 Board of Director for the National AREAA Foundation a 501(c)3 & to have served as 2024 Chapter President of AREAA LA Coastal – winning her chapter a Best of AREAA Award for Best Chapter Sustainability.

Melissa is also passionate about empowering women, and is honored to facilitate Women’s Circles in Manhattan Beach. Her background in teaching yoga contributes to the mindfulness and intentionality she brings into the many things she does.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My amazing teachers, mentors, and coaches! I’m so thankful for each and every teacher that I have had in my life, who saw potential leadership skill and talent in me – long before I believed it myself.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The moments of pain and suffering taught me how powerful and resilient I am, and that as people, we all are. It has taught me that even if things don’t work out as I had desperately wanted, it does not take away from the person I became along the way- in fact, it is the thing that helped me expand to a better version with more depth and breadth. The struggles taught me perspective, humility, and gratitude.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say my family, friendships, my dog, my spiritual practice, continued personal growth, empowering other women, and doing good in the world matter most to me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Melissa was a woman with a mission and a vision to transform her client’s lives for the better- through real estate, through her women’s gatherings, and through giving back. She was an empowered woman who inspired others to live life fully, to follow their dreams, and to manifest all that they desired and deserved in life. She was joyful, radiant, and fully embodied her divine feminine power.
