Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Liz Borden of Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Liz Borden and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Music, art, photography, acting…… I love this question because I find myself lost in music and all forms of creativity. If you love something no matter what it is, you get lost in it. With music, art etc, I loose time. I create. I go full circle and in most cases I find myself on the other side. Songwriting and recording really does this to me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an actor, musician, singer, songwriter, producer, music manager, photographer and writer. I have been in six movies so far and some tv shows. I have written songs that have appeared in movies, television shows and commercials.

I have four books available on Amazon titled

Liz Borden – My Life In Poetry & Short Stories Volume 1

Liz Borden – My Life In Poetry & Short Stories Volume 2

Liz Borden- On The Road Of Life In Photographs

Liz Borden- A Children’s book of facts on Bees, Bugs & Butterflies

I have been playing in clubs since she was a teen. My first three gigs were at The Space, The RAT in Boston and CBGB’s in NYC. I have played in six bands and solo projects including LIZZIE BORDEN & The AXES. I have toured endlessly. Signed with record labels and toured some more. I have won awards for her music and for music production. I have released nine albums and continues to play live shows and record..

When not recording in the studio, you can find me on stage, writing new songs, producing other bands and recording in the studio.

I feel strongly about animal rights and i am a strong supporter of animal rescue and adoption. My love for animals has always flowed over into her household filled with fur and feather babies.

Liz has been an Ambassador and long time supporter of Music Drives Us. A non profit organization that provides musical instruments and education schools and other organizations.

I am the Producer for Sweet Baby Jai presents, The Sunset Music and comedy Festival in Palm Springs, Ca. We are a non profit that not only put and exciting shows and we raise money to give instruments to under privileged children in the Coachella Valley.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Interesting question.I believe what breaks the bonds between people is dishonesty, being hurtful and sometimes honesty. The truth hurts sometimes! When it comes to the truth, I believe how you present it is individual and whom you are presenting it to. Someone approached me recently with their truth in a situation and I didn’t see the same truth. They called me out on something and I had a different view and opinion and felt they were the one that need to look in the mirror and I’m not sure that will be resolved. What brings people back together? Honesy, love, compassion and empathy. Again with me, it depends on the situation, the presentation and our history. Not everything can be resolved.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Since my life is ever evolving and I’ve never taken an easy path, I would say, once a day! I have this weird thing inside of me called hope. There is something in me that is driven. I was a teenager in an all girl band in the 1980s. We hit every wall possible. People often didn’t have open arms for us. We kept going. My path had always been in arts and show biz and that’s not always an easy life for a female. .

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My partner and our family. My friends, my fur babies and my home. Creativity.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop being completely busy. I would still need to be creative but I’d slow down. I would spend all my time with my partner. Our family. I would sit by the ocean. I would want to spend time with friends and even acquaintances. I know a lot of people. I’d say my goodbyes.
