We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kate Bode. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Kate , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Sometimes I even wake up because a melody comes to me in my sleep , it feels like music finds me before the day begins. My day usually starts with wishing myself a good day, a little meditation and gratitude to set the right tone. Then I get ready for breakfast, which can be either at home or somewhere cozy outside, depending on how busy my schedule is. I check my emails and messages to stay organized, and there’s always music playing around me — it keeps me inspired and helps me step into the day with creativity, calmness, and a positive mindset.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kate Bode— a singer, songwriter, and performer based in Los Angeles. I’ve been singing and making music my whole life — it’s something that’s always been a part of me. I started writing my own songs a few years ago, and I’m constantly learning and exploring new sounds. I work across many genres in commercial music projects and collaborate with composers and singers to help make their tracks sound more expressive and musically refined.
Alongside my studio work, I perform as a solo artist at various events and live shows, sharing both my original music and favorite covers. Performing and creating music is my greatest passion — I truly love every part of it, from the creative flow in the studio to the connection with the audience on stage. For me, music is a lifelong journey of inspiration, growth, and joy.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I think my earliest memory of feeling powerful was realizing how naturally music came to me. Even as a child, I could easily remember melodies and repeat them — whether they were from blues, pop, or even opera. I loved exploring how different styles felt in my voice. It made me realize that my ear and intuition for music were something special — and that expressing myself through sound was my true strength.
When I sang on stage for the first time as a child, I remember how the music filled the room and how the audience began to listen so attentively — it felt truly magical.
In that moment, I realized that through my voice I could touch hearts and create emotion. That feeling of connection and energy between me and the audience made me understand that music has real power — and it’s something I’ve carried with me ever since.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self: don’t try to be who others want you to be — stay true to yourself, even if it makes some people uncomfortable, especially when you’re young. I was always a bit of a rebel, and sometimes it was hard to find my place in the adult world while staying authentic.
There were moments when I had to follow the rules, even in music, but deep inside I always knew who I was and what I wanted to express.
I’d remind her that her individuality is her power, and that the world eventually catches up to those who dare to be themselves.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My best friend — we’re still very close — taught me how to be strong and how to set healthy boundaries. She also introduced me to music I hadn’t listened to before. Even as kids, our taste was different from most — we loved Whitney, Mariah, Aretha, and Celine. Those songs shaped our dreams and taught us what real emotion in music feels like.
One of my friends once told me that my strength is in how I make people want to become better when they’re around me — that’s something I hold close to my heart. And my beloved person inspired me to take the biggest step of my life — moving to the U.S. to follow my musical path.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I think the only thing I might regret is not sharing more of my creative journey with the world through social media. I’ve never really invested much time into it or studied that big digital world deeply — I focus more on creating than promoting. But sometimes I think it would be nice to let more people see the process, the emotions, and the stories behind my music.
