Amy Lyndon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Amy , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
When my student Adam Brody won The Critics Choice Award this year I felt so proud in knowing that I was his only acting teacher since he was 16.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Amy Lyndon is one of Hollywood’s most respected and sort after Master Acting Coaches, best known for creating The Lyndon Technique: The 15 Guideline Map to Booking, a game-changing system used by actors worldwide. Featured in university curriculums and taught for many years during Aaron Sorkin Week at Syracuse University. Amy’s technique has produced over 56+ Series Regulars, Emmy and Critics Choice winners, and thousands of working actors globally for over 30 years.
Her roster of success stories includes Adam Brody, Christel Khalil, Carlos Pratts, Corey Stoll, Stefania Spampinato, Liza Lapira, and Nadine Velazquez, among many others. Backstage.com named Amy one of the Top Audition Coaches four years in a row, and her book stands alongside those of Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner as a Reader’s Choice.
With over 174 IMDb acting credits, Amy has appeared in major films and TV shows like NCIS, Entourage, Ugly Betty, Law & Order: LA, and more—recently winning Best Supporting Actress in the Sky Showtime movie Amor en toda la Cara. She’s also a multi-award-winning director, writer, producer, and former talent manager for over 9 years.
Amy’s mission is clear: Talent alone isn’t enough. Through her classes, books, and online courses, she empowers actors to master both the craft and the business of acting.
She also owns the inspirational apparel brand I Am Enough Collection, donating a portion of the proceeds to charity.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child I was never allowed to speak or have any opinion. It took me years to finally find my voice. I never believed that I was enough. How could I if I was never able to express my feelings in my home? I always envied some of my friends whose parents supported them, loved them unconditionally and championed their success and encouraged them to express themselves freely. I work on self-love daily. Today, I always encourage my students that they are enough and that the world needs to hear their voice. That’s probably why I created the Brand I Am Enough Collection and why so many of my students are empowered by my teachings and technique that I created to set them free to be the amazing artist that I know they can be.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
For years, I found myself trapped in the same painful pattern—relationships that began with promise but always ended in disappointment. I couldn’t understand why love seemed so difficult, or why I kept attracting partners who made me feel unseen, unheard, and ultimately alone.
Then one day, I had a profound realization: the men I was choosing all mirrored aspects of my father. On the surface, they appeared strong, charming, and reliable. But over time, their true nature revealed itself—emotionally unavailable, controlling, and incapable of offering the kind of connection I deeply craved.
I spent years chasing the fairy tale romance I had always imagined, longing for someone to love me unconditionally and make me feel whole. But that pursuit only left me feeling more broken. It wasn’t until I stopped reaching outward for validation and turned inward that everything began to shift.
The real breakthrough came when I realized that I didn’t need anyone else to give me the love and attention I was so desperately seeking—I could give it to myself. That revelation brought me a sense of peace I had never known.
Today, I truly enjoy my own company. I no longer feel the need to fix or prove myself in order to be loved. I choose relationships based on mutual respect, emotional availability, and a genuine understanding of one another. Love, for me, is no longer about filling a void—it’s about sharing a full, healthy life with someone who meets me where I am.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
It has taken me years to figure out how to put together an apparel site on Shopify for my I Am Enough Collection. Just when I think I have it down, another technology thing pops up that I don’t understand. I oftentimes get frustrated that I don’t understand Shopify, Google or Meta, but then I take a deep breath and remind myself that this is process and that I’m training myself to learn how it all works. I have wanted to give up so many times, but I didn’t. I am determined to make it work no matter how long it takes. So, I watch videos, ask for help and I try to be gentle on myself.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Having a child. But, then again, I have 1000’s of children all over the globe that I have taught. I believe I am their second mom and will always be there for them.
