Julie Margi’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Julie Margi. Check out our conversation below.

Julie, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Yes, without hesitation. After 18 years in the beauty and wellness industry, I bring far more than technical skill. I bring care, and a deep understanding of how environments, experiences, and people intersect. I don’t just want someone to look beautiful for an hour. I want them to feel confident, and supported long after they leave.

What truly sets me apart is intention. Every detail matters to me, from the very beginning of our correspondence to how they feel walking out the door. I’m consistent, reliable, and deeply invested in the experience I create. I hold myself to a high standard because I know trust is earned through follow through, not promises. If I were hiring, I would want someone who treats the business as if it were their own and every guest as if they truly mattered. That’s how I show up every day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Julie Rae Margi, a licensed esthetician and makeup artist with 18 years of experience in beauty, wellness, and client care. My work lives at the intersection of precision, artistry, and connection. I specialize in helping people feel confident in moments that matter, whether that’s a wedding day, a professional milestone, or a quiet moment of self care.

What makes my brand unique is that I understand beauty as an experience, not just a service. I’ve worked on-site, in studios, and within spa environments, and I’ve seen firsthand how the right atmosphere, communication, and leadership elevate outcomes for both guests and teams. I’m deeply present with my clients, but I also think big picture. I pay attention to flow, consistency, and how people feel within a space. That perspective has naturally guided me toward expanding my role beyond the treatment room and into leadership within the spa world for a uniquely immersive experience.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad, Raymond. He came to the United States from Lebanon during a civil war and built a life and business from the ground up. He continued the work my grandfather started with Margi Brothers Watch and Clock Repair, and watching him showed me what real work ethic looks like from a very early age; my entire life.

He always told me, “Be honest, be on time, do a good job, and be nice to people.” That advice sounds simple, but it’s the foundation of everything I do. He taught me that success is built through consistency, integrity, and respect. Those lessons didn’t just shape how I work with clients, they shaped how I lead, how I problem solve, and how I support others. I carry those values into every environment I’m part of and how I live my life.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That neither is permanent, and that humility matters just as much as ambition. Suffering taught me resilience, empathy, and perspective. It taught me how to lead with compassion, how to listen deeply, and how to remain grounded even when things are uncertain. Success is rewarding, but hardship teaches you how to navigate people, pressure, and responsibility with grace.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Integrity is non negotiable. Faith, honesty, and compassion guide every decision I make, whether someone is watching or not. I believe trust is built through transparency and consistency. I’m intentional about doing things the right way, even when it takes longer, because anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Interestingly, I once stepped away briefly to work in a mortuary, and when I returned, my clients told me they didn’t just miss the services, they missed me. They missed the laughter, the sense of comfort and familiarity that comes from years of trust.

It’s important to me to create spaces where people feel safe, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. That sense of ease and confidence is something I bring into every room, and it’s also what drives me. I want to help create environments where everyone feels supported, inspired, and proud to be there.
