Inspiring Conversations with Yeni Palacios of BARBER RING

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yeni Palacios.

Hi Yeni, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I arrived in the United States in 2007 with my family and a suitcase full of dreams. Back in Mexico, I had decided to learn a trade before coming here, so I enrolled in barber school and became certified as a barber. I knew that once I got to the U.S., I wanted to offer this profession with pride.

When I arrived in this country, I was given the opportunity to work in a barbershop where they specialized in bald fades. I didn’t speak the language, but I learned by watching others and slowly gained experience. I was so proud every time I saw a client smile at their haircut—it made me so happy to serve them and see how confident they felt.

In 2016, I opened my first shop called Palacios Barber & Beauty Salon, and now I run BARBER ring, a barbershop themed around Mexican wrestling. This shop represents my dreams, my roots, and my community. My clients are not only loyal, but many have trusted me for years—not just for their haircuts, but for the experience and connection we’ve built.

My journey has not been easy. I’ve had to start over more than once, but I never gave up. My story is one of resilience, hard work, and passion—and I am grateful for every person who has supported me along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, my journey has not been smooth. I have faced many painful, unjust, and difficult moments. One of the biggest challenges was going through a legal battle that deeply affected my life. I lost my first barbershop—Palacios Barber & Beauty Salon—which I had built with love, effort, and dedication.

Because of poor legal representation, I was pushed toward bankruptcy. I lived through emotional and financial collapse while trying to stay strong for my family and my clients. I felt betrayed, unsupported, and deeply hurt, but I never gave up.

I also faced health problems and personal struggles while holding everything together—being a mother, a wife, a daughter, and an entrepreneur. There were times I wanted to disappear, but something inside me always told me to keep going. My faith, my roots, and my deep love for what I do kept me standing.

Every scar I carry has made me stronger. Today, I stand not just as a barber, but as a woman who has fought for her dream with tears, fire, and heart.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BARBER RING?
My business is called BARBER ring, a barbershop with a Mexican wrestling theme located in the heart of our community. What started as a dream after losing my first barbershop has now become a space full of life, tradition, style, and a deep passion for the art of barbering.

At BARBER ring, we don’t just cut hair—we offer an experience. We specialize in modern styles like bald fades, detailed work, perfectly shaped beards, and soon, facials. My goal is for every client to feel respected and leave looking and feeling better than when they arrived.

What sets us apart is that we combine talent with culture. Every corner of our shop is inspired by Mexican wrestling, a symbol of strength, bravery, and heritage that also reflects my personal journey. My team and I work with passion and heart, and our clients are not just customers—they are part of the BARBER ring family.

I am proud to have created a brand with identity, history, and soul. I want readers to know that this business rose from the ashes and has become a ring of strength, creativity, and love for what we do.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Since I was a little girl, I loved styling hair. I used to comb my brothers’ hair and even cut my nieces’ hair. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I’ve also always been very empathetic—I love making others feel good about themselves.

I grew up in a humble family, but I’ve always had big dreams and the drive to never stay stuck in the same place. I come from a lineage of hardworking people—my grandparents were entrepreneurs, and so was my father. On my mother’s and grandmothers’ side, I inherited deep wisdom and a strong heart.

Now, as an adult, I realize how much of who I am comes from them.
