Inspiring Conversations with Trish Peng of Trish Peng

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Peng.

Hi Trish, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I knew I wanted to be a designer when I was seven years old. I launched my namesake brand while studying fashion at university in New Zealand, and what began as a passion project creating custom gowns quickly evolved into a full bridal label. Today, we have over 60 international stockists across 15 countries.

I lived in Los Angeles for five years, which was such an inspiring and formative chapter. It gave me exposure to the international bridal market and helped me build strong relationships with brides and boutiques across the US. Those years really shaped how I saw the brand’s global potential.

In 2022, we had a viral moment on TikTok when one of our gowns, the Avery, reached over 17 million views. It truly took the brand global overnight. Since then, we’ve continued to focus on creating timeless, modern, and elegant designs that celebrate each bride’s individuality, while growing our international presence. It’s been such a rewarding journey seeing brides all around the world walk down the aisle in a Trish Peng gown.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable. Starting a brand from scratch while still at university came with a lot of trial and error. I had to learn everything myself – from design and production to marketing, logistics, and business operations.

The pandemic was also a huge challenge for the bridal industry. Weddings were being postponed or cancelled, and we had to quickly pivot and find ways to keep the business moving. That’s actually when we started leaning more into social media, which later led to our viral moment on TikTok in 2022 that changed everything for us.

Working across different time zones and managing international growth has also come with its own set of hurdles, but I’m grateful for how far we’ve come. Every setback has pushed me to grow stronger as a designer and as a business owner.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Trish Peng?
Trish Peng is a luxury bridal brand based in New Zealand, known for creating timeless, modern, and elegant wedding gowns that celebrate each bride’s individuality. We offer both made-to-order and bespoke couture services, allowing brides to customize their dream dress from silhouette to fabric and finer details.

What sets us apart is our dedication to craftsmanship and personalization. Every gown is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, using the finest fabrics and traditional couture techniques. Our brides often tell us how much they love the experience of being part of the design process – it’s intimate, collaborative, and truly special.

I’m also very much the face of the brand, which I think makes it feel more personal and relatable. People resonate with people, and I love connecting directly with brides, whether that’s in fittings, through social media, or at international trunk shows. It’s such a privilege to be part of their journey and to see their reactions when they find “the one.”

We’re now stocked in over 60 boutiques across 15 countries, which is something I’m incredibly proud of. Our mission has always been to make every bride feel effortlessly beautiful and confident on their wedding day, no matter where she is in the world.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how we’ve built a global community while staying true to our roots. From our atelier in Auckland to bridal boutiques in New York, London, and beyond, we’ve grown organically through word of mouth, genuine relationships, and the love our brides share. I want readers to know that every Trish Peng gown is made with heart, passion, and purpose – it’s not just a dress, it’s part of a bride’s story.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is creating meaningful connections and making women feel confident and beautiful. Designing wedding gowns isn’t just about fashion; it’s about being part of one of the most special moments in someone’s life. Seeing a bride light up when she puts on her gown is what keeps me inspired every day.

I also really value authenticity and staying true to who I am, both personally and as a brand. Building a business that reflects my values, supports my team, and celebrates our brides around the world means everything to me. At the end of the day, it’s the people, our brides, team, and community, that make it all worthwhile.
