Inspiring Conversations with Summer Hollis of Boundless Realty Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Hollis.

Hi Summer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a Real Estate family, my mother became my broker in 2016. However, as a rebellious child I didn’t want to be like my family and be in real estate. I started my first volunteer work at age 9 in Topanga Canyon Ca – I kind of forced my way in, cleaning tables, sweeping floors, and eventually made it into the kitchen and learned how to make pizza. Multiple time they told me tey couldn’t pay me but i think they appreciated my drive to work and stay busy, so they let me keep ay change on the table, that was good enough for me. In the midst of that i would walk another mile through the canyon to the Chill-Out Cafe and served Ice cream – I worked for ice cream. i have always loved to work and earn what I wanted and needed. My mom was always at work and well i was bored and wanted m own money. That set the pace for when we moved to Oxnard Ca. when i was 11. where I met and built relationships with the people who ran Jazzy Sprouts at the local farmers market – That was fun too. I had many jobs that led to my career in real estate. I was also working with my mother in her real estate venture (I tell people I was trained at gun point since i could drool on a stamp for her mail outs). I would host open houses, pass out flyers, etc. Then as a teen I rebelled – working with family is tough, but also a great learning experience. I ended up moving out of home young, got my first real job at a kiosk in the mall, then telemarketing etc. Got married very young (16) had babies, divorced young, took a detour off path, etc. I never really felt fulfilled at other jobs. I was bored, learned everything too fast, and well people didn’t like that much. So I called my mom and let her know I waned in RE that was in 2015-2016, I studied hard on my lunch breaks and in the late hours, and it all paid off. I began working in 2016 really fell in love with RE. I love helping people, stayin busy, traveling and so much more, I felt I was where i needed to be. in about 2019-2020 i decided to get my brokers license, I liked being accountable, and wanted our company to grow to so much more. Well after obtaining my brokers lic. , my mother and I didn’t see eye to eye on progression, so i left. I wanted to open my own brokerage and make it my own, I saw the way the world was changing and new I could do better than the “dinosaurs” – Dont get me wrong I have learned so much from the dinosaurs, and i continue to do so. Their knowledge is priceless. I continue to educate my self in all aspects of Real Estate – I have had my lenders lic. (not because i wanted to write loans, but understand the process better for my clients to help guide them better). I had my life insurance lic. so i could help clients protect the assets that I was assisting them to accumulate, and currently working on my GRI – Graduate Real Estate Institute – all to be able to face the next client with a new problem I am faced with. With the knowledge and my persistence to change with the times and reach the younger generations as well as the older I knew i could do something amazing. after I left my moms brokerage, I went to work for Doora Properties in Ventura, this taught me. whole other level in RE and marketing. Shortly about a year after working at this new brokerage, they made changes I didn’t want to be apart of. I have always been. strong believer in accountability, being there for my colleagues etc, and i felt that was lost. For me, I took it s a sign to face my fears and open my own brokerage Boundless Realty Inc. Everyone told me I was crazy, and they are probably right. Everyone else was jumping on the cloud brokerage bandwagon, and it was just not for me. so here i am almost 2 year in to my very own brokerage, I have a partner who helps catch all my crazy ideas and put them in to systems. As of right now we have about 7 agents in our little boutique and every year we get a little better. I want to bring the industry back to having integrity. I feel like the industry has changed so much that consumers have lost trust in us. I want to eliminate thast “Used car salesman” persona. We realtors are so much more, we have struggled our selves and come from so many backgrounds that we are able to use our experiences to not judge others, and know that there is always a way to move forward, to know that no matter what with a little had work, time, dedication and of course saving money, anyone can have the dream of home ownership. This is just part of it! Even working with my luxury clients, the creativity, trust, and adventure is all a story in itself and should be an experience your clients and you never forget. I my self had a rough start in my younger years, I never thought I would be where I am today. Anything is possible with the right mindset. You just have to remember to not let fear paralyze you. I have learned that facing your fears of failure, even if you do fail, is much better than not doing that what scares you. There is so much more to write, but i have to go show my clients

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is it ever? Being a mom of 4 and finding that work life balance is a struggle for us all, but i did it. Leaving my mothers brokerage was a very very hard and broke my heart, but it had to be done. Heck even getting my RE lic was a struggle, as I was a butthead with a hot temper at 19 had to get something expunged, and even though it was expunged I still have to defend my self every time i get a new CA state Lic. So yes your past does follow you, but it is how you respond to the setbacks and come out of them that matter . Everyone always tells me want i want is impossible and i wont achieve it – i have a solid record of showing otherwise. Some other struggle are I am a woman in a mans world as well, so thats fun.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I finally fulfilled my dream of opening my own brokerage in 2024. Against all odds. I opened it with my business partner Austin, I am not too proud to know I needed help. He is a great asset in helping mange all our systems and marketing as well as a good realtor. He came with me from Doora Properties as well as another of our agents Mrs Rhonda. they saw something in me and decided they would follow me. We are growing together and making dreams come true every day.
We specialize in residential real estate but I personally am getting deep into commercial real estate and developing. We make the impossible possible, not just for our clients but for our agents, we are family.
Our company strives on building relationships that last with our clients, our resources, our industry colleges. i love to collaborate with other realtors and learn their perspectives. working together even though at different brokerages, really only helps better the industry, its better for our clients. Other brokerages are not my competition, they are colleagues. If something i learned how to do can help another agent help their client I am happy to share.
You see, we all (most) have the knowledge each has, we all went through same education course etc. but some of us retain info differently, some of us see risks where some see progression, if we all treat each other with kindness and respect we can help more people.

At Boundless, we treat everyone as their own individual, build what i like to call a. “Realtorship” friendship, guidance counselor, advisor, and so much more – most of our clients become life long friends. One of my very first clients is now an agent for me.
We are authentic, and truly care about the person, the situation and treat their struggles as our own and that is how we are successful

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am an open book for the most part. they all know my why, but not my HOW – I charge the storm, i dont run for cover
