Hi Poonam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been a practicing attorney and an acclaimed speaker and coach on overcoming trauma and emotional pain to live a happy, fulfilled life. I have been a speaker at Pfizer and keynote speaker for the PA Health Council on Secondary Trauma for Social Workers, amongst many other organizations. I have appeared on 30 podcasts, been interviewed on Fox, David Meltzer’s Office Hours, and Forbes Riley on her talk show, and am also a TEDx speaker. Now, as the Divorce Journey Coach, I have used my personal and professional experience to empower struggling individuals pre-divorce, during divorce, or post-divorce using my breakthrough strategy called The SAFE method along with my legal knowledge of the process. Soon, my chapter on Divorce is being released regarding the legal system gaps and the need for a Divorce coach in the world-renowned Les Brown’s book. My Divorce Coaching program is available to individuals at all stages of the divorce process, from pre-separation planning to post-divorce adjustment.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was born and raised in London by Indian parents and immigrated to the United States at 21. I had experienced a multitude of painful challenges in my life, including sexual assault, abuse, health issues, financial setbacks, and the aftermath and cultural humiliation of divorce. I developed the S.A.F.E. Method to help others acknowledge, discuss, and grow from their emotional pain without self or imposed stigma or judgment. Then came my award-winning book, “SAFE from the Pain,” which guides readers into the light of a prosperous, happy life.
We’ve been impressed with DivorceJourneyCoach.com, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been an attorney for 24 years in Family Law and Corporate Immigration. I became a Divorce Journey Coach because the system is broken. Having been through this personally and professionally, I know the nuances that need to be considered when raising kids and all the pressures, when people are more emotionally sound, they can agree. When they understand how they got here and the patterns in their life, they will be less angry, less likely to use the kids as pawns, and more willing to compromise. Gaining clarity and confidence and empowering them in the legal process (reducing their legal fees) ultimately reduces generational trauma.
Recognizing divorce’s emotional and logistical complexities, my coaching program provides a holistic approach to navigating this challenging life transition.
