Inspiring Conversations with Nasreen Jadmani of Events by Nazzy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nasreen Jadmani.

Hi Nasreen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I never saw myself as an entrepreneur. Just like many of us, I was comfortable with the idea of having a 9-5. As I entered into the workforce, I began exploring the idea of being a business owner. I just had no idea what I wanted my business to be.

Event planning has always been a part of my life on a smaller scale. Throughout my childhood, due to my fathers’ position, as a diplomat, we were introduced to a lifestyle of philanthropic fundraisers, fancy dinners and other community events around the world. That’s how the seed was planted.

The pandemic is when I decided to take that leap of faith and start my event planning company. The event industry had completely shut down. Everyone had been furloughed or laid off. I was one of them. Probably not the ideal time to be starting an event planning business, but it gave me time to focus and most importantly get out of my comfort zone and become the entrepreneur I always wanted to be.

I created Events by Nazzy as a side hustle whilst working a remote 9 to 5. I slowly and surely built my business by working one wedding or event a month. In April of 2022, I decided to primarily focus on my dream. Although leaving the safety of a steady paycheck was scary, so far it’s been a rewarding journey. As far as I can tell, where my little business is heading is right where I imagined it to be. I’m excited for what’s next, and I’m grateful for the freedom this business model has provided for me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sometimes I need to remind myself to look back and remember where I started and how far I’ve come. The ability to see the increments of growth and receiving recognition definitely makes me realize that my hard work is paying off.

One of the greatest hurdles I encountered was constantly questioning myself: is this something I’m meant to be doing? What happens if I fail? That being said, I recognize that everything I’m learning throughout this process is going to be the best lesson I’ll ever learn, that I will be able to also apply in other facets of my life.

For example, I learned that my work involves a lot of listening and understanding different communication styles. I discovered when I was able to adapt to the different needs and wants of each client, I was able to take a step back and focus on what was most important to the client and their family.

Events by Nazzy is a wedding and event planning company located in Los Angeles, California. I am a wedding and event planner. We offer three main services, full planning, partial planning or month of coordination. Customized packages available upon request.

While I’m talking about my business, I would like to highlight my amazing team of assistants, who are the backbone of my business. Without their support I wouldn’t be able to pull off all these weddings smoothly.

What are your plans for the future?
On the immediate level, I am focused on designing my full planning and partial planning services. Now that the ball is rolling more consistently, the expansion of Events by Nazzy is my next order of business. I have a few destination weddings under my belt and would like to prioritize branching outside of the Southern California area and offer my specialty services in Northern California and New York City.

As I look ahead, I believe my overall preference is to work on coordinating corporate events and more fundraising opportunities because I like the idea of giving back and being around individuals who inspire me to keep growing and blossoming into a more evolved version of myself. The relationships we have built are truly what makes our business thrive and quite frankly what I believe sets Events by Nazzy apart from all the rest.
