Inspiring Conversations with Linda Credit of Rusty Pot Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Credit

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I opened this restaurant 10 years ago. My idea was to bring freshly made, quality ingredients to the center of Inglewood. I envisioned a neighborhood spot that could become a staple in the community. We pride ourselves on our made-to-order food and friendly customer service. It’s a community environment, a familiar place, something shy of home. Most of our customers are regulars and always know what they get when they dine with us. Rusty Pot Cafe thrives on the community vibe.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth. As a small black and female-owned business, we have had to navigate various hurdles. Our challenges have ranged from environmental to operational. Two of our more persistent and recent challenges have been navigating the rising cost of inventory and operational cost.

As you know, we’re big fans of Rusty Pot Cafe. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in breakfast and lunch. We are probably best known for our Chicken and Waffles. The brining and seasoning process we use is what makes our wings stand out from the rest. As for our branding, the most distinctive part of Rusty Pot Cafe is the unique flavor you find throughout everything on our menu. This is rooted in our special, in-house seasoned salt mixture. Some other notable standouts include our amazing cornmeal-dusted Fried Catfish and grits, the Bully Omellette, and our Overload Breakfast Sandwich.

What’s next?
I hope to expand Rusty Pot Cafe with multiple locations throughout the city. In the immediate future, we are looking forward to creating an event around our 11th anniversary, April 14, 2025.
