Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Hirsh.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My brother, Charlie Hirsh, and I began in the wine industry over 15 years ago working with our dad, Bill Hirsh. We worked on many projects together before he passed away in 2015 (Cielo Farms, Stonehaus Wine Club etc). Charlie and I continued on those projects for several years before we started our own wine bar and wine club called Club 14 in 2019. Club 14 Wine Bar is a intimate, cozy wine bar with an emphasis on boutique producers. We also focus on education offering Wine School, blind tasting lessons, and other types of classes regularly. Our vibe is more of a community feel rather than traditional wine bar.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our father, Bill, passing away in 2015 was a huge struggle for us. It was a shocking, unexpected turn. It has been important for us to carry on his legacy and remain a sense of connection through our shared passion of wine.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Club 14 Wine Bar?
Part of what makes us special is our desire to include our customers in the wine industry experience. We want to teach you how to taste like a sommelier and be able to assess quality.
We are particularly proud of how advanced some of our non-industry customers have become with their blind tasting skills.
I think we have a unique ability to teach people about wine in an accessible, non-intimidating way. All levels are welcome and no question is dumb.
