Inspiring Conversations with Kira of BY KNA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira.

Hi Kira, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Honestly, my story is a mix of intuition, hustle, and a lot of figuring things out along the way. I didn’t grow up thinking, “I’m going to own a spa one day.” But I’ve always loved beauty, aesthetics, decorating — literally anything that made people or spaces feel better.
I started my business back in 2016 with almost nothing. No team, no big plan, just me, a treatment bed, and this feeling that I was meant to build something of my own. I was doing lashes out of a tiny little room, and at the time I remember thinking, “If I can just get a few clients to trust me, I can grow this.” Bit by bit, that’s exactly what happened.
Over the years, I added more services, moved locations, built out a full spa, started bringing on a team, and eventually created multiple branches of my brand — the spa, the candles, the decor side — all falling under BY KNA. Every part of it came from the same place: wanting people to feel confident and taken care of, whether it’s in their skin or in their space.
It definitely hasn’t been perfect. I’ve had moments where I felt lost, overwhelmed, or like I wasn’t doing enough. But I kept going, and somehow each step kept leading to the next. Now I’m here, running a full business, opening a new location, planning events with the chamber, building my brand, and still learning every single day.
So my story is really just… growth. A lot of trial and error, a lot of faith, and a lot of heart. And I’m still in the middle of it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. I don’t think anyone who builds something from scratch ever has it easy. For me, the hardest parts weren’t even the business things — it was juggling life at the same time. I had moments where I was struggling with my own confidence, my health, personal situations, losing friendships, and still trying to show up for clients with a smile on my face. People see the business now, but they don’t see the nights I cried in my car or the mornings I opened the spa exhausted but determined.
There were also all the normal business challenges — moving locations, trying to find the right team, expanding while still being hands-on, dealing with systems, policies, finances, and learning everything without anyone really guiding me. I had to grow up fast in business. I made mistakes, trusted the wrong people sometimes, took losses, and had to rebuild more than once.
But honestly, those rough patches shaped me. They taught me resilience, boundaries, and how to keep going even when it feels like everything is against you. So no, it hasn’t been smooth at all — but every hard moment ended up pushing me to level up in some way. And I’m grateful for that now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
So my brand, BY KNA, is really an umbrella for all the things I love and all the ways I try to make people feel good — inside, outside, and even in their space. Most people know me through FACED by KNA, which is my spa, but I also have KNA Decor and my candle and lifestyle line. Everything ties back to one idea: helping people feel confident in their own skin and space.
At the spa, we specialize in facials, lashes, body treatments, skincare, and all the little details that make someone feel taken care of. What I’m known for — and what sets us apart — is honestly the experience. My clients always tell me it just “feels different” when they walk in. And that’s because I’m super intentional about every detail — the energy, the atmosphere, the way we talk to you, the treatments we offer, the cleanliness, the comfort… all of it.
I’m also really big on education and long-term results. I don’t just want someone to come in for a facial and leave. I want them to understand their skin, feel empowered, and feel like they’re part of a community. That’s why I offer memberships, custom treatments, and add-ons that are genuinely tailored to each person.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the fact that everything I’ve created feels personal. I didn’t copy another spa. I didn’t try to fit into some trend. I built something that reflects who I am — from the brown-tone aesthetic, to the candles I pour by hand, to the way I decorate my spaces. It’s very “me,” and I think people feel that when they’re here.
I want readers to know that BY KNA is more than a service — it’s an experience and a safe place. Whether you’re coming in for your first facial, getting lash extensions, joining a membership, buying a candle, or even booking me to decorate a space… it all comes from the same heart. I truly care about people feeling their best, looking their best, and creating environments that make them feel grounded.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to help people walk out feeling more confident than when they walked in. And I think that’s what keeps my brand growing the way it has.
