Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Lee
Hi Jeremy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working in property management in 2017 with Career Strategies in Louisville, Kentucky. It was my first job in the field, and I was excited to learn everything I could. After a while, I moved to Los Angeles and was able to transfer my job with me. One of the first properties I worked at was a luxury apartment complex in Marina Del Rey. The rent prices were shocking to me—higher than anything I had seen before. That’s when I started wondering what options were available for people who couldn’t afford these kinds of places.
I eventually landed a permanent job at a company that managed both affordable and market-rate housing. That’s where I really started learning about different housing programs in Los Angeles—things like Section 8, homeless prevention services, and nonprofit organizations that help people find housing. But I also saw a major issue. A lot of people who qualified for these programs were struggling to actually find a place to live. Some couldn’t get landlords to accept their vouchers, while others faced outright discrimination because of their source of income.
That’s when I knew I wanted to do something about it. I wanted to create a company that would work directly with renters and landlords to make the process smoother and fairer. That’s how Housing Navigators LA came to be—built from everything I learned along the way, with the goal of helping people find stable housing while making things easier for property owners too.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been easy. We’re still working hard to connect with more property owners and renters, making sure the people who need housing the most can find it. While we’ve built great partnerships with some landlords in the Los Angeles area, expanding our network is an ongoing challenge. The goal is to provide as many resources as possible to those in need.
One of the biggest challenges is that we offer our services for free to renters, so we have to make sure we’re always finding new ways to grow and reach more people. At the end of the day, we just want to make sure that everyone who qualifies for housing assistance actually gets housed.
We’ve been impressed with Housing Navigators LA, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Housing Navigators LA is all about making the rental process easier for people who need affordable housing. We help renters navigate housing programs like Section 8 and other assistance options while also working with property owners to fill their vacancies. What makes us different is that we focus on bridging the gap—helping both tenants and landlords so the process is smooth and successful for everyone.
One thing that sets us apart is that our services are completely free for renters. We believe that if someone qualifies for housing assistance, they shouldn’t have to struggle to find a place to live. We work one-on-one with renters to guide them through the process, connect them with available housing, and make sure they understand their rights. At the same time, we build strong relationships with landlords, educating them on the benefits of accepting housing programs and ensuring they find reliable tenants.
What we’re most proud of is the impact we’re making. Every time we help someone secure stable housing, we know we’re changing lives. It’s not just about placing people in homes—it’s about giving them a foundation to build a better future.
For anyone looking for housing assistance or property owners wanting to fill vacancies with qualified tenants, Housing Navigators LA is here to help. We’re passionate about what we do, and we’re always working to expand our network to serve more people.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
For me, the most important quality behind my success is persistence. The affordable housing world isn’t easy—there are long waitlists, strict requirements, and a lot of landlords who are hesitant to accept housing programs. But I don’t believe in giving up. I keep pushing, reaching out, educating property owners, and guiding renters through the process, no matter how many roadblocks come up.
Building strong relationships has also played a huge role in my journey. Whether it’s with landlords, renters, or nonprofit organizations, I focus on trust and open communication. I take the time to understand people’s needs and work toward real solutions that help both tenants and property owners.
At the end of the day, my success comes from my passion for this work. Helping someone secure stable housing isn’t just a job for me—it’s personal. I’ve seen firsthand how difficult the process can be, and I’ve made it my mission to bridge that gap. That dedication is what keeps me going and allows me to truly make a difference in people’s lives.
