Inspiring Conversations with Janette Preciado of Jayfit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janette Preciado.

Hi Janette, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My fitness journey started over ten years ago during a very difficult time in my life.

In my early twenties, I was very unhealthy, emotionally lost, and going through a breakup that really forced me to look at myself and the choices I was making. I knew I needed a healthier outlet instead of turning to drinking or habits that were only making things worse. That’s when I committed to the gym.

As I worked out and healed, I ended up losing about 30 pounds in six months, but the physical transformation was only part of it. My mind became clearer, my confidence shifted, and I started to understand that fitness was doing something much deeper for me. It helped me heal mentally and emotionally, especially after losing my parents at a young age. The gym became a space where I learned discipline, self-respect, and how to process grief and trauma in a healthier way.

Over time, I became deeply invested in my fitness journey and the way it changed my life. When COVID happened and the world shut down, I began thinking seriously about my future and what would happen if my job wasn’t secure. I started listening to business podcasts, and one question stuck with me: what do you spend the most time and money on outside of work? For me, it was fitness. That’s when I realized I could help others in the same way fitness had helped me.

In 2020, I began training clients outdoors, initially focusing on weight loss and healthy habits. The business naturally became women-only due to my living situation at the time, but it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Working with women felt aligned and meaningful. I understood their struggles, their cycles, and the mental and emotional barriers they face with fitness because I had lived it myself.

In 2022 I opened my gym and today, I run a women’s only group training gym built on more than just physical results.

My goal is to help women transform their bodies, strengthen their minds, and create lasting change in their lives. Fitness gave me clarity, purpose, and healing, and now I’m passionate about helping other women experience that same transformation for themselves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building something from the ground up without a roadmap or backup plan. I didn’t come from a business background, so a lot of the learning came through trial and error, mistakes, and long hours of figuring things out on my own.

Starting during and after COVID came with uncertainty, financial pressure, and moments where growth felt unpredictable. There were times when client retention was challenging, energy levels were low, and I had to learn how to manage people, expectations, and my own burnout at the same time. Wearing every hat in the business while still coaching clients was mentally and physically demanding.

Another ongoing challenge has been navigating emotional resilience as an entrepreneur. When you pour so much of yourself into something personal, setbacks can feel heavier. I’ve had to learn how to set boundaries, trust the process, and keep going even during slow seasons or moments of doubt.

Despite these challenges, each obstacle forced me to grow. They pushed me to become more disciplined, more strategic, and more confident as both a leader and business owner. The hard moments shaped the foundation of the business and strengthened my ability to show up consistently for myself and the women I serve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is a women’s only group training gym built on real transformation, not quick fixes. While we help women build strength, lose weight, and improve their physical health, what we truly specialize in is helping women feel mentally stronger, more confident, and more connected to their bodies. The Jayfit gym is intentionally designed to feel safe, supportive, and non-intimidating, especially for women who may feel uncomfortable or overlooked in traditional gym environments.

What sets us apart is the community and the approach. We don’t believe fitness is just about aesthetics. We focus on sustainability, consistency, and mindset because real change happens when women take care of themselves both physically and mentally. Many of our clients come to us not just to work out, but to heal, grow, and rebuild confidence in themselves.

We are known for creating a strong sense of accountability and belonging. Women don’t feel like just another member; they feel supported, seen, and challenged in a healthy way. We meet women where they are in their journey and help them build habits they can carry with them long-term.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the environment we’ve created. Watching women regain confidence, build discipline, and break cycles they once felt stuck in is what matters most to me. This brand represents growth, resilience, and self-respect. My goal has always been to offer more than workouts, and to show women that investing in their health can change how they show up in every area of their life.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with us by joining our women-focused training programs and becoming part of the Jayfit
community we’ve built. We offer structured fitness programs designed to support women physically and mentally, whether they are just starting their fitness journey or looking to deepen their routine.

Collaboration is always welcome, especially with women-owned businesses, creatives, wellness professionals, and community partners who share similar values around empowerment, health, and growth. We’re open to events, workshops, and creative partnerships that bring value to the women we serve.

The best way to support the brand is through community. Showing up, engaging with our content, spreading the word, and supporting women led spaces makes a meaningful difference. This business is about connection, and every form of support helps strengthen the mission of creating a safe and empowering space for women.
